Theres been a lot of talk today about who the best team in the NFL is RIGHT NOW. ESPN has been looking at the Colts and Saints because theyre unbeaten but there hasnt been much love for the Vikings.

So I ask Cardschat Nation....

Who is the best team in the NFL RIGHT NOW?

The TN TITANS is the hottest team hands down. We have the NFLs leading rusher and have won 5 straight and will beat the Colts to give them there 1st lost next week and move us to 6-6 and then run the table and make the playoffs!!!

Thats the plan anyways!!!! LOL

I seem to say this a lot - here we go again. What is NFL ? Can we have a little context, please ? Some kind of American sporting event, I gather ?

CC is an international forum, guys. Three-quarters of the members aren`t going to know what you are talking about unless you help us out a little.

I think people could figure it out once they click the link since I mentioned teams. Give people some credit.

I understand your post and have seen similar post regarding "NBA" National Basketball Association

I dont follow soccor, "football" for some but when I see the team names I recognize what sport they are from.

My question is when you see "Colts", "Vikings","Saints",do people from your side of the pond really not Know what sport is being talked about?
It seems there has been almost constantly a thread, about "NFL" since I joined.

I only ask because I would think that something so big would be recognizable.Anyways I was just curious :)

In the AFC, I don't see anyone beating the Colts.

In the NFC, the Saints have the best record, but the Vikings have the best team.

Really, breaking everything down, I think the Vikings are the best team in the league.

Vikings won't make it because Farve has a habit of choking in the playoffs in recent years.

I didn't try to predict the super bowl. Right now, they are the best team in the league though. If Favre continues to look solid like he has, they are gonna be tough to beat. But I am well aware of how he chokes like a porn star on a purple headed yogurt slinger.

Well, he's been in 2 Superbowls, and won 1. By the ime you reach the playoffs, you're playing with a different calibre opponent. And you really can't blame Favre for an entire team's performance. He's got a decent team now they say. ;-)

This. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I have no idea who will make it to the Superbowl. There are concerns about the aging QB being able to maintain the same stamina and physical intensity down the stretch. This remains to be seen. But the Vikings hands down are the best team in the NFL today. With AP, the ace rushing weapon, frankly surprised he's thrown the ball as much as he has, and with such success. But I shouldn't be. They are complete in every phase of the game, and at every position. And let's not forget, the Saints almost lost to the Rams a couple weeks ago. :p

Both undefeated teams will not remain that way. Ask Nick Buonaconti. They'll be cracking the champagne for both of em soon. The Vikings are solid but I can think of a few teams that could beat them. Favre has all kinds of problems playing the Cowboys for example. Also, Peyton Manning and the fourth quarter comeback can last only so long. I think a team like the Bengals or Cowboys are poised to surprise everyone at how deep they can go.

Probably the Saints, but I've predicted an undefeated season for the colts about 8 different season's until this year with Harrison gone. The Colts have the best offense of all-time but I think the Saints and Vikings are better on defense so I have a feeling in a head to head match they would both win against the Colts but I would be hoping the Colts came out on top.

The most important you need to know about the NFL is that they are the league that helped sneak the UIGEA bill onto the Safe Port Act.

No

Vikings won't make it because Farve has a habit of choking in the playoffs in recent years.

He also only has 3 ints this year best in league....He has arguably he best RB in the NFL a great TE and WR'ing core...and the best d-line in the NFL and a top 5 defense....So he will not choke...

When the season started all the analyst said he would go downhill at about week 7-8 but here it is in week 13 and he is playing a a top 5 QB level...He will not fold in the playoffs because he is playing on the best team he has ever played on...

He even said it himself this MN Vikings Team has more talent then his Super Bowl Packers team

Vikings will go down to N.O. and beat the Saints in the NFC Championship and they will play the S.D Chargers.....

Best team in the NFL is the Colts/Vikings

Good grief, typed A.P. (without the periods) - meant Adrian Peterson, of course.

It is amazing. Here we are at week 13, and he's never looked better. But the Chargers!?!?! Come on now. They are a mediocre team in a weak division. If it weren't for Denver's inconsistent running game, they'd be in 1st place. Actually SD doesn't have much of a running game either. They are 30th in rushing and defense is 21st against the rush. Thank goodness for the Raiders and Chiefs, but that party is over post-season.

By the way...Adrian Peterson is one hell of a running back. But there is a revitalized LT with his tiny side kick Darren Sproles, this may be the best one two punch for a running game in the NFL. There is no small reason why LT has been passing up some of the games greats in recent weeks in various records, nor is there a thing bad to say about the fact that Sproles has an ever increasing yardage total as he inches his way up on yet another solid year on both offense and special teams. DO NOT COUNT THEM OUT! Yes, the Colts have a perfect season working, but I remember a day last year at the MGM Grand Sports book, where my wife and I watched as The Chargers took the "better" Colts out of the playoff picture. OK, no SB ring. OK, every year they disappoint in the final weeks. They have been a spoiler team forever...and who knows, could this be the year???

That reason is because he was almost there before the season started. True, LT was out a few weeks, but he's only been putting up numbers for like 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong. I have both LT and Sproles in 1 Fantasy Football league, so I root for them both. Sproles came through respectably in LT's absence, but not much since his return - for either of them. I hope LT does well the next 2 wks, I'm not benching him when they play KC.:p But I think LT was their main weapon in the past, and just mediocre without what LT used to be.

Sorry, I didn`t see any link.

Actually, no. I can certainly recognise from those names that this must be an American sport, but I have no immediate idea whether it might be Baseball, American Football, or whatever.

I guess there must be some historical reason I don`t understand, but most of the world follows Football (ie.Soccer), Rugby, Cricket etc. and America has a different set of favourite sports. There isn`t a great deal of crossover, and we don`t get much news about your sports nor (as far as I know) is there much coverage in the USA of ours.

We are a bit off-topic here, though. My point was not about American sports as such. I would offer the same comment if I saw (say) a British or an Irish or an Italian member started a thread about his country`s sports league. Unless we are talking about an International competition, one shouldn`t assume that all CCers will understand and it`s a good plan to include a line of explanation and maybe a link to some background material.

Thanks. :) I do know how to use Google. I am really not trying to be awkward or raise silly objections, just asking that we make our threads and discussions readily accessible to all members.

Let's put is this way. Realistically, if you don't know what the NFL is, you'll have nothing to contribute, as we've gotten pretty specific here. I know the world follows follows soccer, but rugby & cricket? Maybe many countries, but within a small geographical location (Europe). At any rate, NFL = National Football League. Any questions, just ask. :D We love our football, at least I do.
