Some thoughts after some of sunday's results: -I guess that pickup of Vick could come in handy for the Eagles come week 3 maybe? We'll see if the Eagles are going to have McNabb when they take on the Saints next weekend. They did just sign Jeff Garcia as a precaution, so they may not be as bad off as if they had to use Kolb. Time will tell. -The Panthers looked like garbage. -Saints' offense picked up right where it left off last season. Drew Brees 6 TD's are you serious? To 5 different receivers, might I add. Mike Bell, who started in place of the injured Pierre Thomas, ran extremely well, and to be honest, I think Pierre Thomas may have lost his starting job. Reggie Bush was laughable--2 lost fumbles, 2 muffed punts (1 was recovered by the Lions), and 14 yards rushing in 7 attempts (also had 55 yds receiving). The Saints defense surprised me--they played much better than the final score shows, seeing as 2 of the Lions' drives started within the Saints 20yd line (which led to a FG and TD, respectively), and they forced 3 turnovers to boot. If they fix the major leaks with their special teams and patch up the defensive mistakes they've made, the Saints can be a top contender in the NFC without a doubt. -Matthew Stafford looked lost. Grats to him on his first NFL touchdown though. -Adrian Peterson is incredible, and that's an understatement. Brett Favre looked decent. With Peterson around, he doesn't have to carry his offense as much as he used to. I think he'll make it through the season without a problem in performance. Most of Favre's throws were within 10 yards, and what more do you need? As long as you can continue moving the chains and pumping in touchdowns (and the occasional field goal), you have no worries on offense. Vikings defense played very well as well, only letting up 1 TD and 2 FG's (the other TD that Cleveland scored was on a punt return). -Before the season started, I had my doubts about Jay Cutler in Chicago. I suppose my doubts on target, unlike Cutler yesterday. We'll see how he works out for the rest of the season, but I'm not sure he'll get to the level he was at in Denver. Brian Urlacher is also now out for the season. I don't think Chicago is making any noise this season. -I'm happy to see Mark Sanchez getting off to a decent start. I was happy for him going to the Jets, and I think he'll do well there. He's got a pretty good supporting cast as well. They should be a playoff team this season. -Houston looks to be off to yet another losing season. I think they'll have to wait until 2010 to try and get the franchise's first winning season. -Both Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan seem to not be having a sophomore slump. Both the Ravens and Falcons should be playoff teams, if not possible division winners. -The Cardinals looked disheveled. I think the 49ers broke the lock that the Cards had on the NFC West this season.
