Are you as ready as I am for some college football? I can't wait.

My Mountaineers are going to be playing their 1st Big 12 season and we're getting tons of preseason hype atm.

This is one of 5 regional SI covers hitting the stands this week:
Geno

We're #11 in the preseason coaches poll and both Geno (QB) and Tavon (RB) have at least a little Heisman buzz.

I got my season tickets in the mail last week and I'll be taking my son to his 1st game when we open the season with Marshall (weather permitting for him, I'll be there regardless).

Anyway, come on in and post/boast about your team. I'd say no sPitt fans allowed but the odds that one of their 3 fans can even use the internet are VERY remote anyway.

SI cover has a curse, not proven of course. Polls like USC. I still like the SEC for great teams.

Sometimes I think SI chooses the most likely to fail with its covers. WV won't have a losing season, but they're not world beaters. Geno might want to wear titanium, and watch his back.

Yeah this makes sense because they also chose to feature covers with Matt Barkley from USC (everyone's preseason #1), Laundry Jones from Oklahoma (if anyone beats WVU in the Big 12 it will be OU), AJ McCarron from Alabama (everyone loves an SEC team), and Denard Robinson from Michigan (ok you got me on this one). So I guess USC, OU, UA, UM, and WVU are all most likely to fail?

Yeah nothing like luckboxing 70 points (easily could have been 90).

The 70 was legit, but it was a simple combination of great offense and piss poor defense. Clemson had a rotten defense all year long, and had to rely on outscoring opponents. If they could have held WV to 50, they might have gotten 50 of their own - and the Orange Bowl might have been considered a 'classic' instead of such a stinker. It's no way to go about things, obviously, so DC Kevin Steele was fired and replaced with Oklahoma's Brent Venables.

I had no idea about all the covers. Guess that's a moneymaker for them, maybe it breaks the jinx up into little pieces too, I don't know. I hate SI anyway, for their lack of coverage of college sports, especially college football. I quit reading it years ago. Serious question - did they ever expand the college football coverage beyond simple articles?

I still haven't found my team yet lol. Until I have a team to support I can't get too excited about college football.

No idea. Haven't read SI in years. Just liked the picture. :)

PM me your address and I'll send you down a nice WV hat or shirt or something. There are plenty of WVU fans in your area (well there are in Atlanta anyway). The local UGA fans won't be able to give you shit since we beat them the last time we played in the Sugar Bowl (the year it was in Atlanta no less) AND we're coming down to play in the Georgia Dome again in 2014 for our opener against Alabama. If you're a super Mountaineer fan by then I might even get you and Joe a couple of seats.

Edit: We beat GT the last time we played them too. We OWN the state of GA!!! :)

I enjoy watching college football, and West Virginia has high expectations after their excellent season last year and dismantling of Clemson. They will have an exciting team, but it will be very tough for them to match that success in the Big-12.
Now that they are on everyone's radar, it will be hard to overlook them now, and I think West Virginia will not meet up to their hype.

I am open game - decided that since no Georgia team managed to snag my allegiance last year that I don't really care where the team is - something just has to happen to make me want to support them. Gonna watch a few games here and there.

You guys let me know when there is a must see game on!

Much as I hate to say it, I think it will be USC vs Bama in the title game. I dont have anything against either of these schools especially..just would be nice to see somebody different in there.

ND will be extremely lucky to be bowl eligible (6 wins) with that schedule.

Don't know about "extremely lucky" but they may need some breaks to go their way (like one of Denard Robinson's legs). That is their schedule almost every year. This year, however, someone decided it would be better to play Oklahoma rather than Air Force:eek: My prediction 7-5 maybe 8-4 and will face the UCSC Banana Slugs in the Beef 'O' Brady's Captain Crunch Nokia Bicycle Cards Bowl. One down-five to go!;)
