NBA basketball playoffs thread 2024

Just posting this now after being bored with the NBA shenanigans with the crappy refs and inconsistency most of this season. But now we are just about at the playoffs, which means it is time for some degenerate sports betting action.

I got a disposable $10 set aside on 888 and am not going to be following the 1% betting rule to see if I can bust or run it up. Anybody else wants to tag along, feel free to post your sports bet predictions. I won't be posting every night but will try to post regularly.

We currently have the usual Celtics and Bucks domination in the East and an interesting spot with the Thunder, Timberwolves and Nuggets pretty much tied for first on the West. But as we all know, anything can happen in the playoffs, especially with the current ref situation.

Tonight:

Celtics vs Pelicants
Celtics are on a slide after losing twice to the Hawks.

Grizzlies vs Magics
Grizzlies are without Ja Morant and have been terrible.

Bucks vs Hawks
Hawks have played better recently. Bucks are without Lillard and Giannis is touch and go.

Looking like a goose egg tonight. Trae Young ended up not playing for the Hawks, which kills two of the bets. Grizzlies are getting completely destroyed by the Magic. Pelicans couldn't get it done.

Edit: I should do more research before betting, since Trae has been out since end of February with a hand injury.

Wizards +10.5 (Heat)

Wolves -8.5 and Over 213.5 (Bulls)
Bulls defense is not great, Wolves are on top of their game right now, and generally score well enough to hit this over.

Rockets -1.5 and Under 231.5 (Mavs)
Rockets have been on an absolute rip recently and Luka Doncic has sore knees, so he will be extra slow if he plays at all. Which means less points and an edge for the Rockets.

With my betting record, whoever I name will probably end up getting injured and out for the playoffs. Jaylen Brown for the Celtics (needs to not choke), Anthony Edwards for the Wolves, Michael Porter Jr for the Nuggets (needs to stay consistent), Damian Lillard for the Bucks, Luka Doncic for the Mavericks (needs to stay healthy).

Damian Lillard, Austin Reaves, Jalen Suggs, Jamal Murray and Shai. Those are the top 5 of the future Playoffs. Those players who will be close out the clutch in important games, probably in game 6 or 7 of the series.

The NBA is a very difficult kind of sport to predict. There are too many factors to consider before the game, and still 30 minutes before the start of the game the leader of the team may suddenly not play. Someone can get injured 3-4 minutes after the start of the game. And it can also happen that a mistake by the referees can bring the opposite result. I've been betting on the NBA since the first game of this season in a neighboring thread, and I've seen a lot of little things that make a bet not win.

I miss betting on the NBA. I put my pokerstars freebets there a lot for about 2 years because of the low rake on spread and points. But now I get no pokerstars freebets or challenges that have anything to do with sportsbetting. Is this country specific or are other people are getting them? I am from canada.

No, unfortunately PokerStars is completely focused on high rollers and PowerPath tickets. Yes, I was getting freebets too, but I can tell you for sure that PokerStars doesn't do such promotions anymore.

Yeah, the Warriors' elimination was surprising, of course. They won the rivalry with Houston for a spot in the Play-In, then after beating the Lakers they seemed to be one step away from the top-8, but suddenly lost to New Orleans and now Sacramento. Well Klay Thompson blew the game against the Kings, scoring 0 points (this is the first time this season in games where he was not injured or suspended). I don't think Golden State needs a rebuild, as in this season both Klay and Draymond Green have played at their standard level. Yes, Andrew Wiggins' productivity is down, but Jonathan Kuminga is starting to reach his potential! Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski also had great first season for the Warriors. Golden State needs some spot upgrades: re-sign Klay Thompson to a 10-15 million contract, and use that money to find a great center. I'm not a Warriors fan, but I'm sure the franchise is alive and Chief Curry will be back in the Playoffs next season.

In the Chicago and Miami game - there, indeed, the game is unpredictable. New Orleans, on the other hand, should be in the Playoffs. Yes, they won't have Zion, but the Pelicans played great without him. Especially since New Orleans sweeped Sacramento in the regular season. Also, in the last 10 games against each other, New Orleans won 8 against the Kings. And yes, it will be very difficult without 6th man Malik Monk and starter Kevin Huerter.

Yeah, I did. Yeah, it was a great game. I made a prediction for this game in the neighboring thread on Milwaukee handicap (+ 6.5). I was satisfied with the final result.
