We read a lot of negative stuff about all kinds of sports stars but this is something great. Matt Kemp of the Dodgers was apparently asked by his 3rd base coach to go say hi and sign a ball for a Dodgers fan in At&T Park, home of their rivals the SF Giants....the fan is Joshua Jones, 19, who has a very bad cancer.

But that wasn't all. Matt Kemp later flew Josh's whole family to LA for a home game against the Angels.

Kemp kept in touch, calling Josh regularly.

Josh died Tuesday.

Great job Matt Kemp making his last weeks and months so special.

That was a very nice gesture. He is a class act. I bet Josh really really appreciated that.

Love sports, and love it when these athletes get paid major bucks put in an extra bit of effort for their fans.

I saw the signing of a ball coming in the first video. My jaw dropped with what he did afterwards. He is a huge superstar, and for him to fly them out at a later date is even cooler. Mad props.

I really am touched when people care "when they don't have to". I am not being critical of anyone in this situation when I say the following.......

I am crushed inside when I hear of ANYONE dying of cancer when they don't have to!!! I know of many of the CURES for cancer.....and there are MANY. I have used a couple as I had a golf ball size tumor in my chest that began to protrude. I had learned of one cure at least 20 years ago so I had no fear whatsever and "went to work" with it. No problem, took a while but it steadily shrank away. I just wish people would listen to me (and others), but few do. They die in the hands of the doctors. Rich and poor, young and old. The truth is suppressed and the pharma monsters keep making their billions. I went to visit one of my best friends after he found out he had a few small tumors (one putting pressure on his brain). I told him what he needed to do and he instead listened to the doctors he had never met. I remember seeing him overjoyed when he found out some "great chemo" was approved by his insurance for $6K per month. How tragic. He, of course, suffered mightily for many months and succumbed to the killing of his immune system, not the cancer.

Please anyone who has a loved one, either do you own research or ask me about it. I am so sick of hearing people needlessly dying of cancer when I know the cure(s). Just think how you would feel if you knew.....and people won't listen......and they die like the rest. Everyone who has failed to listen to me has died, except one. The one person who listened is doing great.

Best wishes to all. May you live long.

such a class act this guy, matt kemp is the definition of a humble guy that takes the time out of his personal life to help another. He would invite josh out and he didn't have to go out of his way when he first met him but he did. He could have been like everyone else and signed a ball but he gave his shirt off his back for this fan. Such a sad story with josh but he must have just been thrilled to have that opportunity to even step foot onto the playing field and hangout with the guys of his team. You see a lot of jerks out there that wouldn't do much for someone else and are selfish players. Him and john cena are the two guys that are very humbled people with some big hearts. Good on you kemp
