Ive been a pretty huge Lakers fan for many years and was wondering what they should do with possible trades. Should they trade Dwight, Pau.....? And will Dwight resign?

I dont think trading Pau is valuable anymore but I think they need better players because right now they have a laughable bench and no1 other than MWP and Dwight that can play defense.

Trading Dwight would get them a couple of good players but who would they build their team around after Kobe?

It's a tough season. Once D'antoni got hired, I knew the Lakers were screwed. Especially with Dwight Howard playing with a bad injury, Pau getting hurt.

I still see Kobe doing awesome for a few more years, but they should look at getting an awesome young player sometime soon for when Kobe retires.

Get rid of Koby. He's a team breaker, and purveyor of discourse.

Man, they are just a mess this year. Too be honest howard doesnt fit the lakers but I dont think the lakers will just give up on him. Because they know that Kobe only has couple more years and Pau just doesnt fit the Coach' system so I suggest just trade Pau to get complimentary players to surround Howard with.

I saw a trade on bleacher report that made a lot of sense. It was a 4 team trade that had Lakers giving up Gasol and getting Josh Smith and Kyle Korver. I think Minnesota would get Gasol and they would give up their center to Atlanta. Will be interesting to see if something like gets done before the deadline.

Huge day today for the Lakers. They obviously need a win vs Phoenix but Utah is up against OKC and Houston vs Warriors. If Lakers lose and Utah and Houston win, the season should be over if it wasn't already.

Theyve got no chance when teams right above them keep winning. Id say they have to go 21-6 to make the playoffs. Ouch....

They are not going to catch the Rockets because the Rockets are playing well. They are not getting in the play off unfortunately because its too late to turn it on now! Also, even if they do make it they would just be knocked out on the first round so whats the point!

The Lakers will not be in the playoffs this year. Too late to comeback. Koby is the only one that has any hustle about him, any more.

Not a Lakers fan, but from here I think the best thing they can do is start planning for the future (which I believe the GM is already doing).

What does that mean? Dwight (top 3 big guy in the league) will be the centerpiece (pun intended) of the team in the future. Build the team around him, get a couple of younger guards around him since Kobe and Nash won't be there forever. With the Lakers' coffers, this shouldn't be too hard...

The Lakers seem to be getting it together. Dwight Howard took his sweet time coming around to Kobe's way. The early season coaching drama just put them a step behind, and they're finally catching up. Kobe's put up some good number and highlights lately.

Kobe has been amazing but after watching them against OKC, I dont think they can beat them or the Spurs in a 7 game series. I think they have a good chance of making the playoffs because Utah has a tough schedule and could easily drop in a couple of weeks. Utah has the season series won so Lakers need to be at least 1 game ahead of them. They won't catch the Rockets but the Warriors have a good chance of falling as well.

Lakers have to fix their turnover issues and then transition defense. You have to stop the ball and they didnt do that yesterday costing them so many points. OKC shot around 20 more shots in the game, had only 2 turnovers compared to 16, and the Lakers were only down 5 deep in the 4th qtr. Fixing some of these problems just a little bit will help them a lot.

Lakers need a few 3 point shooters and also some defense.

Trades could get it done but that doesn't seem likely. Maybe next year lakeshow maybe next year.

Trade Nash + Gasol to TO for Anderson+Lucas+Bargnani (loooool. But I mean all three can hit the three ball and Anderson is a pretty good defender while Bargs is a good on ball defender. Lucas chucks all day but i'm sure Kobe will keep him in line. )

Yeah, I watched OKC take it to the Lakers. That game showed LA just how much more work they have to do to get it all back. They were competitive, but OKC was putting on a clinic offensively. Not exactly a 'bad' loss.

They get killed by quick point guards. That was their problem with Fisher. Sessions was an upgrade but he disappeared quickly in the playoffs. Nash is really good in spacing the floor with his shots but again, he can't guard Westbrook. Against OKC, they have no chance. Against the Spurs, they have a better chance but its still going to be tough. Utah is really helping LA out and hopefully LA wont lose too many more games. I just want them to play the Spurs and not OKC.

Are you forgetting about Parker? lol . IMO The Lakers need a new coaching staff and a small shakeup of their lineup. Few guys who play D that can make open jumpshots.

Either way I really don't see them making any type of run even if they do make the playoffs.

Finally the Lakers are in the 8th spot, thanks to Utah and their horrible coach. I dont think the Lakers coaching staff is a problem. They need better players but its so much harder putting a group together in 1 year in the NBA. The Lakers have some old players that are bad playing defense. Kobe, Nash, MWP, Jamison are old. Clark is a good perimeter defender but not really good inside. Dwight in the game solves so many of their problems but when they sit, no one can't stop the other team. They need to get healthy and have a solid backup pg that can play defense. If they can make the playoffs, you never know what might happen.

I would put on the problem to be coach, the head coach is not how to say, organize the team, to create chemical reactions.

see the big names on the team list, even in it's first year, these players are not supposed to achieve this game record.

anyway that's game, so anything may happen.

The Lakers are turning it around! if they're stars play like they are capable of i could see them making the Finals....too bad Miami will be waiting there and no one is beating them in a 7 game series.

Getting close, I think the Lakers might miss it. They have some tough games left and the teams they are playing are still competing for playoff seeds. Utah has Minnesota twice and then Memphis. In the last game, Memphis might not be playing for anything and rest their guys. I hope the Lakers make it even though I dont see them going far in the playoffs. Would still like to watch a min. of 4 televised games. Who wants to watch Spurs vs Jazz lol
