4. Union Rags (Matz/Leparoux) 9-2
6. Bodemeister (Baffert/Smith) 4-1
15. Gemologist (Pletcher/Castellano) 6-1

This is the Derby and with 20 horses in the race, anything can happen!
Taking this exacta box on TVG. Gemologist has a chance, but no horse have ever won the Derby out of the 15 pole. Gemologist out of Mr Prospector who sired or has descendants to:
  • Real Quiet (1995) 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes
  • Unbridled (1987) 1990 Kentucky Derby
  • Mine That Bird (2006) 2009 Kentucky Derby
  • Conquistador Cielo (1979) 1982 Belmont Stakes
  • Hansel (1988) 1991 Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes
  • Smarty Jones (2001) 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stake
and a bunch of others. The 5 horse Dullahan's dam Mining My Own was sired by Smart Strike, which is the son of......Mr Prospector. Good luck is anyone is betting or even watching the Derby, I know that Horseracing has lost alot of fans in the last 15 years, but it is real exiting to watch.

My father was a Massachusetts breeder back in the 80's and 90's. He had about 25 horses at one time, and we used to bolt to the races once or twice a week.

Another Santa Anita wonder horse, $11k yearling, so much for breeding. Then again, it's a Canadian horse.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what Leparoux was thinking aboard Union Rags. Starting the race in 20th {and staying there most of the race} and letting the leaders way out, isn't a good mix for a win.

Played a couple of Exacta boxes, but most involved Union Rags. None had the winner, but three had the second [Bodemeister] third [Dullahan] place horses. Oh well, I'll now wait until the Preakness.
