agreed - when your entire strategy is to keep it tight and nick one, and you're playing a side who are too savvy to be caught on the counter-attack, then, as crazy as it sounds, the worst thing you can do is score early. You can't waste time and try to frustrate the opposition and cling on for 88+ minutes. The same thing happened to England 3 years earlier against Croatia. Going back further, the same thing happened to Everton (who also played this way, apart from maybe the diving) in their last FA Cup final when they scored a few seconds into the game against Chelsea.

England deserve that without playing the game defensively. Italy was the better overall team in the match and in the all tournament and deserved the title with the brutal team spirit in every match.

The only thing I can add to this thread, is I'm glad it didn't go anywhere near Berlin. Likely have caught the virus going there. :top:
