Gene Chizik fired as Auburn Coach!

Gene Chizik was fired today as Auburns' Head Coach. As a result of 2 years of losing, even though he held the BSC Championship in 2010. His record has been 33-19. He apologized to the Auburn family for his failure to improve & for the largest loss to Alabama (49-0) since 1950. Auburn will buy his contract that would end in 2014, paying installments for the remaining 18 months.

The SEC is top heavy, this was destined to be a tough year for Chizik. Auburn scheduled Alabama, LSU, Georgia - which are sure losses in an off year. Most SEC teams dodge one or more of the heavyweights. To top off the difficulty, Auburn was one of the few that actually kicked their year off against a real opponent, Clemson. Take a look at the rest of the SEC team's out of conference schedules - they are double stuffed with cupcakes. Some school may get a real bargain in Chizik.

Whatever..... Bama opened with Michigan who in hindsight wasn't as good as predicted but a top 10 preseason team. Florida plays one of the toughest schedules around according to the computers.....and really why would you have to schedule tough out of conf teams when you play in the SEC. I mean for gods sake 6 out of the top 10 are SEC schools!! Chizik went wrong by not instilling any discipline in his team....they skipped tons of workouts.......players didn't go to class etc....etc...Not only did Chizik rob AU but he robbed Bama fans.....I would have been more excited playing a winless Southern Miss team last week than in the Iron Bowl.......Our chief rival has become LSU now...I hope AU can get their program back just to lend some credability to the SEC West!! ROLL TIDE ROLL!

I remember not so long ago the Big ten was the premier league for football but now it has moved to the SEC... It will shift again in the not to distant future. It was a down year for Auburn and schedule had a lot to do with it.

It was a typical SEC schedule though......Chizik got lucky buying Newton he's never done anything before or after him...... Midland City huh pirate....We're neighbors!

Well we have to get past GA first.....but assuming that happens.....ND has a very very good defense! That is without question....but so does Alabama.....and ND hasn't played against a defense like Bamas either where as Bama has played against several defenses that rank right up there with ND. Where I think Bama holds the edge is on offense. Bama is just a more balanced team overall.......at least on paper. I'm fine with giving credit where credit is due and ND has had a great season....and gotten very lucky several times (The luck of the irish right!!??!!) All the oddsmakers....ESPN and other sports writers are predicting that if it is a Bama ND final Bama will when by double digits.....but....I guess that's why the game is played!!
