Would anyone be opposed to moving the Sept 4th Labor Day Weekend live drafts to Sunday Aug 29th??? Thinking same time slot, late afternoon. BTW, I capped out both NFL & Yahoo leagues to 10 teams instead of 12. Just thinking Sunday is better than Saturday, since most teams will play Saturday. Any thoughts? I know the early date works better for some, not surprisingly.

The deed is done. Was surprised to find that most of the time slots were unavailable for that date. I did the best I could, wanting to allow at least 2 & 1/2 hours between drafts, but still keeping them somewhat close together, and not having to wake up at some ungodly hour. I realize that for one particular cupcake, rising before the crack of noon will be a challenge. But without further ado.... Yahoo league will draft at Sunday Aug 29th, 12:30 PM EDT, NFL league at 3:30 PM EDT.

I could have made Yahoo 1 PM, but we have 3 individual defensive positions on the roster. With both leagues being cut to 10, both leagues have 2 QBs, and a flex spot, and 7 bench instead of 6 - everything else is standard. ;) Please note that both leagues are PPR (1 point per reception), and 6 points (instead of the ridiculous default of 4) for passing TDs.

Please note all the settings, as there may be some additional rewards for special teams, defense, and bonus yardage for passing & rushing. And as always, feel free to make suggestions. Stybby, I've assigned you full Commish privileges at NFL, unable to do it at Yahoo. Don't do anything crazy.

One more week! :icon_chee

So glad to be finding that this time slot works for everyone so far, especially considering the 3 that had conflicts have not posted in this thread. :D :D :D

Just got the email. That works better. I do have another draft at 1 pm, but hey...nothing wrong with Draft Day overload! Heck, I've been waiting almost 8 months for this!!!

Thanks for the change Dive! At least I can participate now!

Can we see where we draw in the Yahoo league? I might have to autodraft my first two picks.

Hey, does anyone know how to draft on the Blackberry?

No problem, glad to do it. Stybby is also out of town that weekend. Please don't tell me you are gonna try 2 drafts at a time on a Blackberry. No idea. I wouldn't attempt it, lucky if I can figure it out on a computer. The draft order is determined 30 minutes prior to draft time.

I forget which one this was in... but spots it looked like you have to pick a Def along with 3 individual defensive players.

What that correct?

:)

Yes, in the Yahoo league, you can pick defensive players,. Bubbasbestbabe had that in her league last year, and was kinda fun so I followed suit.

what = was. Man I must have been too tired to re-read that line a 4th time.

Ok so we pick a whole Def and then 3 individuals. That's neat.

Have to brush up on stuff with a week to go.

One LAST (hopefully) time change....I checked this morning, and suddenly many, many new time slots were added at both NFL & Yahoo. I left the NFL draft time unchanged. It is still Sunday Aug 29th, 3:30 PM EDT. However I changed the Yahoo league to Sunday Aug 29th, 6:00 PM EDT. So the 2 draft times are the same as before, just 2 & 1/2 hours apart, and later in the afternoon, so you could get out and go to church. :p

I see this thread was jusrt moved from the general lounge to sports subforums. So I'll send out PMs. Does anyone who 12:30 worked for have a problem with 3:30, 6?

I'm allin baby!!!! And I been doing a lil homework on who would make some good picks. The preseason games tonight should help with the picks too since the starters should be seeing more action than the previous weeks...

I was just looking at the league settings (don't ask me why I didn't look them over earlier). I was surprised by a couple of things, which I can deal with if needed...

The fantasy playoffs only involve 4 of the 10 teams and are for weeks 16 & 17. Most leagues I've seen only use week 17 when there are 3 weeks needed for the playoffs, since that week many of the playoff-bound teams rest their starters (if they can). Also, is it possible for more teams to make the playoffs, since this is for fun? No big deal, either way.

The roster shows both 3 WRs and a WR/RB flex position, as well as 7 bench players. That's a ton of players and 18 rounds of drafting. Maybe I'm the only one who's a little surprised, but I thought I'd mention it.

Also, I've never played with return yardage counting before. Do these apply to the WRs, like Desean Jackson, who also return kicks?

Welcome to CC dearie! Yes, and many games today, which I think just 2 are televised - for me at least. Cleveland at Detroit  and Dallas at Houston.

Well, 3 WRs is standard. I've added 1 flex and an extra QB since it's a 10 team league. So I included 1 extra slot on the bench. Is that too much? If I cut the extra QB, I will cut 1 bench too. Or can I use 2 QBs with 6 bench. I guess you could, right? I'll wait for your (any anyoner else's) input. Maybe I'll ask in the NFL FF forum. You should see the Yahoo league. We have the same roster plus 3 individual defense. I think you do need an exta bench for that. At least it's nice. Below are the choices for playoffs - they are identical for Yahoo & NFL.

Never gave any thought to the week 17 as being a sitout week for some. Good point. Originally, I had 6 make the playoffs, but seemed too much for a 10 team league. So how does that work with 6 making the playoffs? Do 2 teams get a bye? Then that would require a 3 week playoff, including week 17, right?

I didn't even notice the extra QB. I'm really okay whichever way you, as commissioner, want to go there. It's just an extra couple of players more than I'm used to. I suppose you need those extra spots to deal with the silly bye weeks with that many teams.

I hear ya regarding the Yahoo league settings. That's partly why I wouldn't commit to that league. My little brain just can't focus on more than offensive players - this year anyway.

My yahoo league at work is also a 10 player league, and we have a 6 team playoff, starting in week 14. The top two get byes, and the group seems to enjoy the extra involvement which also rewards the best two teams. That shortens the regular season another week, which is of course a trade off.

Not sure if you missed my last question... are the kickoff/return yards and touchdowns applicable to all players, or would those be used for return specialists that we're not using a roster spot on?

My work and Money leagues are similar to what CK is saying.

Usually Return points apply to all players when it's setup this way. At least I know Yahoo works this way. I can not speak to how NFL does it, since this is my first time in a league there.

Okay, if the top 2 get byes the 1st playoff week, I'm game for that. I posted on NFL, and got only 1 reply thus far. But at least this is something I can change post-draft.

He was suggesting I set the matchups, but I don't know if that's an option.

Sorry, I realized I forgot to answer that bit on the special teams play. My understanding is that the return yardage is awarded to the defense, and not the individual player. Notice that in the settings, it is listed under defense. Please look at this link, and note Raiderzfan's reply, I believe it is correct.

I did not find a way to even award return yardage to the defense at Yahoo, much less individual players. At Yahoo, it is just points per sack, interception, pts allowed, TD, etc. Same for IDP (individual defensive players) as well. Please point me in the right direction if I'm wrong. I know you don't have access to commish tools, but I can do print screen shots for you.
