with the new rule changes in F1 do you think NASCAR is now a bigger sport than F1?The new piddly engines and exhausts make the new F1 cars sound like normal street cars.I think they've ruined the whole aspect of the spor, ear shatteringly loud and powerful engines.

Nascar will NEVER be be bigger than F-1 where it counts the most, in Europe, and coming on strong in Asia.

Nascar IMHO is marketing only. Seriously, watching a race with hundreds of left hand turns on an oval track?

I've been to both, and enjoyed both (even if you don't like car racing, a Nascar start is something to behold).

Two different styles of racing. NASCAR is basically an oval, although they have two road races a year. F1 is a road race with the finest automotive technology and aerodynamics. Both are thrilling at times. Boring as hell at times.

Personally I like endurance sports car races like the 12 hours of Sebring or the 24 hours of Daytona.... Great road racing and some outrageously dysfunctional parties to entertain ya.

Depends how you define "biggest". Biggest where? Nobody outside of the US cares about NASCAR, almost nobody inside the US cares about F1. One is oval racing very closely linked to road cars, the other isn't.

And while the F1 rules may have diluted some of the extreme elements that people enjoyed in the past, I still don't think there's any threat of people mistaking them for street cars...

NASCAR sponsors a race series here in Canada, but don't know much about it because I'm not a fan of oval racing of any sort.

As for true NASCAR in the US, left hand turns become kind of boring after a couple of hundred.

However, as I said above, ANYONE, whether a race fan or not, needs to go see one race to have the experience.

What is NASCAR?

:)
It is a shame F1 rules keep changing to promote environmental and economical racing.

Of all the Formulas, F2, F3, Formula Ford, Formula Renault
and the other closed ****pit races and rallies,
F1 stood out as the fastest biggest engines outside drag racing and the pinnacle of motor sports.

Formula 1 certainly appears to be dumbing down.
If another Global Cart series without so many restrictions could be established it would have a chance to knock it off it's long standing podium.

nascar is huge, it rivals if not hands down beats NFL and other games for attendance nowadays. But it probably still doesn't have the overall following of FI, however i would guess that NASCAR attendance would be higher overall.

Nascar is actually quite popular up here, so is F-1.

I'm not a huge fan of racing but would choose nascar mainly because there are many more cars on the lead lap near the end of the race.

Edit...Also, from what I've been told, the reason that there are no races here (along with many US states) is that there just aren't enough weeks in the year. If an existing venue were dropped there would be a big line-up of cities ready to take its place.

Personally, I have grown appart from both, I am a REAL hardcore car and racing fan ! I do a bit of racing myself, and have started to fall in love with other forms of racing in the past few years, Global Rallycross, Drifting, DTM, WTCC and GT3 only to name a few.

F1 did however pick up a little bit this year I find, the engine sounds do sound rather horrible, BUT, there seems to be a lot more passing, a lot more fighting, and a lot more equality than in the past 4 or 5 seasons.

Each to his own, but F1 by a country mile for me. Superior equipment, superior drivers, superior circuits and a real actual World Championship.

Think F1 overall as with NASCAR they generally just go around in circles.

Well for one, idc what engine the f1 has in it. v4, v6, v12... w/e.

An f1 car goes 0-60 then back down to 0 in 5 SECONDS. 5 freaking seconds!

Im a huge nascar fan but neither can compare to eachother. Nascar is just stock car racing, f1 is racing in the best makes of cars in the fastest cars in the most demanding of conditions(rain, etc)

Nascar to me though is so much harder to pass someone. The old "they just go in circles" is what makes it so hard. In order to beat someone around a circle you have to be faster, or move them out of the way. Its much more entertaining to watch and personally my favorite sport. Go nascar!!!

F1 they are racing the track. Nascar they are racing the opponents.

But why does it have to be either or? I love all kinds of racing, the type of car doesnt really matter to me. Id watch people race shopping carts if i could

How about moto gp now theres racing (;

LOL.

Not at Watkins Glen, it is my favourite NASCAR race, fellow Aussie Marcos Ambrose almost won 3 in a row in his short NASCAR career.

Temp

http://www.crash.net/nascar/results/194413/1/watkins-glen-cup-results.html

Marcos Ambrose was unable to clinch three wins in a row at the Watkins Glen International road course despite qualifying on pole position, with the win going instead to Joe Gibbs Racing's Kyle Busch. It's Busch's second win at the Glen, his third of 2013 and the 27th of his 315-race Sprint Cup career.

Busch took the lead somewhat through good fortune, having already hit pit road just before a caution triggered by Ambrose's Richard Petty Motorsport team mate Aric Almirola who crashed on lap 60. The delay before Ambrose himself could pit under the caution dropped him out of the top ten, and his haste to race back to the front saw the Australian involved in a number of incidents and finally a race-ending spin on lap 84 that put him out of the running.
