Do you think the celebratory song Enzo Fernandez and his argentina teammates sang targeting French players with racist and transphobic content was acceptable? Why or why not? How can athletes be held accountable for their actions outside of the game while still promoting sportsmanship? Retro Bowl College

I think that everyone in the euphoria of a celebration and a few too many drinks can make mistakes like this, but I think that everyone can celebrate as they want without provoking anything.

I was more confused as to why Emiliano Martinez behaved so unworthily. I think you all remember what he did with the trophy he won at the World Cup. Well, I certainly deplore the actions of the Argentine soccer players. No to racism! :(

Athletes should be held accountable for their actions outside of the game through appropriate sanctions or public condemnations, while still being supported in learning from their mistakes. This could involve fines, suspensions, or mandatory educational programs on inclusivity and respect. At the same time, it’s important to foster an environment where athletes can reflect on their actions, apologize, and commit to positive change.
