Nets trade for Deron Williams.

Trying to rebound from the disappointment of their failed pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, the New Jersey Nets have agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz for Deron Williams, sources said on Wednesday.

The Nets will send Derrick Favors and Devin Harris to Utah for the All-Star point guard. The Jazz will also get New Jersey's first-round pick this year, Golden State's first-round pick (by way of the Nets) next year and $3 million, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

He is definitely one of the best point-guards in the game, distribute the ball and makes players better [not so good with his coaches, lol ] a very good move by NJ

GREAT deal for the Nets. They gave up so much less compared to what the Knicks had to forfeit to get Melo. Now the onus is on them to get players that Deron likes so that he stays to sign the extension.

Yeah, it's always bad....don't understand why the GM couldn't pick up a phone:

GM: Hey may I speak with Deron?
Deron: Yes, it's me
GM: You've been traded to NJ
Deron: What??
GM: --
[phone line disconnected]

A conversation that I'd avoid is telling Baron Davis that he is going from LA to the CLEVELAND Cavs!

[Davis is being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guard Mo Williams and forward Jamario Moon.

Anyone think Chris Paul will end up on the Knicks?

Lots of crazy trades at the deadline.

The Boston Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson for Oklahoma Thunder's Nenad Kristic and Jeff Green. Also the Celtics traded Luke Harongody and Semih Erden for the Cavs 2013 second round pick

My favorite trade was Gerald Wallace going to Portland.

I'd say it has a decent chance of happening if he is willing to take a paycut. Otherwise zero chance depending on the new CBA. Just going to enjoy Melo and Amare, because that might be all the Knicks will/can rely upon besides smaller secondary stars/role players.

Dude the nets just made a terrible deal...

Williams current contract expires at the end of next season and he has made clear his intentions that he wants to see what free agency has in store for him...plus, he was apparently angry at this trade bc he never wanted to leave Utah.

The Nets bet the house on Williams, giving up their future and if he feels like he wants to leave, that's going to put the franchise back for years.

your also completely forgetting Chauncey Billups, who's the only one in that group w/real playoff experience, i.e. winning

He did want to leave. Just didn't say it out loud. Impatient with the team and the other players aren't playing great. He definitely got screwed by Utah's management in getting sent to NJ but maybe he can get Dwight or another player to go with him. Decent trade both ways imo.

Dwight Howard is going to the Lakers...just watch, somebody has to take over the dynasty from Kobe

I think NJ HAD to make that move in order to try to be relevant. If they kept the status quo, they were going absolutely nowhere. Yea they may lose Deron, but it's not like they were going to go anywhere with Harris and Favors. And Humphries is better than Favors right now.
