Don't get me wrong, I am not an Olympic hater, far from it, I love the Olympics and have had many late nights watching the events from Seoul, Sydney etc, but this time the Olympics are coming to my own back yard.
I have gradually seen them being taken over by celebrities and politicians, drug cheats etc and I have had enough.
When tickets for the opening ceremony are going for £2-3,000 and the 100 metre final day for the same it is no longer an event for ordinary people.
Even the Olympic torch's journey has been hijacked by businessmen and politicians and the lottery for tickets was a badly organised joke.
My friend has a boat in Poole harbour and we were going to sail it to Weymouth to watch the sailing. No chance, they are actually charging boats to sail within viewing distance of the races:mad:
So from my point of view I hope they go off without any incident and I hope everyone enjoys them but personally I cant wait for the closing ceremony to arrive:D

Along with every single product from toilet roll to air freshner having an 'olympic special' product - :banghead:

Also if i read if offices or workplaces want to allow their employees to watch any o the games - they are reminded they need a tv licence! ffs!

Anti-aircraft missles on residential flats in London (thus making them supposed terrorist targets) without asking anyone involved

More security & troops deployed for security than we currentley have in Afghanistan

Seb Coe (Yeah, Lord my arse mate) claiming the trademark '2012' and the 'Olympic' so they can sue anyone who gets too close to using them

Olympics - a corperate wet dream

'going to be a little bit shit'
like the millenium
What a shame they couldn't have made better use and re-use of all the money spent on domes and stadiums.
Just add a wobbly olympic bridge and 'It's a Knockout'.

I worked for a company who was a major sponsor of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA. I managed one of their athletic stores in California, and we were inundated with all manner of Olympic themed product. Anything from t-shirts and hats (which I could understand), to sweatshirts (ok, but still stretching it a bit since it was the SUMMER Olympics...lol), to key chains, coffee mugs, bumper stickers, pencils, pennants, magnets, and.... post cards??? ("Hello All, Sending you this Olympic post card from California, where I am not attending the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta..." Really? ). Not to mention stuffed toys of the hideous mascot that they cooked up that year. The fools thought they would help raise some of the money that they were committed to sponsoring by selling product. Well, guess what? I shipped backed cases and cases of the crap, even after it had been significantly discounted, this after we had them in the store for well over 6 months before the Olympics even started.

Yeah, I finally caved and bought one...and gave it to my dog...lol

They are only that expensive for the premium events, you can get tickets for the less popular events for £40-50 I think.

Most of the value in clothes is in design and distribution, as well as in R&D for advanced textiles. Actually manufacturing them is a very low value activity that makes a hell of a lot of sense to outsource.

Great Briton scores it's first Olympic goal since 1960.

Be cool to see them pull this off, but Senegal is tough.
