Hi,

I've been placing sports bets on the 888sports site for a while now.

Looking at the odds the bookmakers give male soccer teams and female soccer teams I get the impression that they are vastly more accurate on the odds created for the male teams than the female teams.

There is very little correlation between the odds given to each team.
A team with odds which indicate the team is the most likely to win the match, is just as likely to lose the match.
A team with odds which indicate the team is the most likely to lose the match, is just as likely to win the match.

I know that each team has a chance of winning the game but the odds should be indicating a bias towards the lower odds team which they don't in my opinion.

Anyone had the same experience?

Hmm, I am intrigued.

I am new to online sportsbetting, but since I have money on poker sites from poker, and all the poker sites are pushing sportsbetting, I have tried to take advantage of as many free bets as possible. I do enjoy betting on sports, but I find it a pretty difficult landscape to navigate.

I usually bet in three different "modes"; "1) this is a sure thing", "2) this is an almost impossible thing to occur (even though I may really, really want it to), but look at the odds!", or "3) I feel like this is likely to occur at a rate higher than the payout odds". I realize that this is probably not the road to sportsbetting riches, but it works for me.

My favourite of these is number 3. It makes sense. But due to the high vig rate, it's a fairly rare occurrence. Could you expand on your observation of "inaccuracy"?

I’ve never noticed any difference. Olympic hockey was bang on I thought. Canadian ladies were always 7-10 goal favorites which they always seem to be correct.

I did not pay attention to this moment, so I never bet on women's teams, only on single sports

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I am still in the 10 limit posts per 24 hour period phase.

What I mean by inaccuracy is:

A team A given 1.5 odds against a team B given 6.0 odds you would expect to win 4 times out of 5 games (more like 3 out of 5 games given the bookmaker's margin). Expectations of winning decrease/increase with actual performance, red cards and weather on the day.
For the men's games you get this result in the long run.
For the women's games you get a long run result of 1 win out of 2 games or even worse of 1 win in 5 games.

Several years ago, I overheard a conversation about how if you study any football league outside of the mainstream ones, the odds don't reflect what you would reasonably expect. They just take into account league position and maybe home advantage, not form or if anyone's likely to be depleted etc
Not sure if that's still the case, but it sounds like the same thing's happening here - might be one to look at.

At one time, I followed women in football and there is a big difference in the rates, most of those who were the favorites won the matches, except for the exception there in 20 tournaments 1 team won the game. In my experience. And so I fully admit that bookmakers do not evaluate women, including fixed games that no one has canceled:)
