Hey there!

I searched this forum a few times with keywords like "learn" and "getting started" but I was not able to pinpoint any threads other than tips intended for those that already know the ropes.

I'm looking to answer 2 questions

1.) I'm only a card player atm, Am I missing out with sports betting?

2.) Can sports betting be more realistically profitable than other types of gambling? (casino games)

I don't know much about sports betting... I'm very much about poker...

Here is the CardsChat link on How to Play Poker:

And any thing else you need to know about poker strategy and How To Threads are here:

Sports betting isn't profitable for the mass majority of people who do it, even if they say otherwise. If you are going to do it, don't be a degenerate gambler. Stick only to sports you actually know about, and that you keep up with. Don't put a lot of bets out a day. Pick a few, and by few, I mean 2 or 3 at most. Don't try to find a few if that days games don't look that great. Much like poker, just put money into the spots you think you have an advantage in, as in where you think the line is off. Also like poker, you have to stay calm and not tilt when you're on a bad run. It's a long haul thing. It requires a mass of researching, and staying up to the minute on things like if someone is out of a line up, and who the refs are/what they tend to do. Only use bookies that do live betting so you can track the few bets you have out, and buy out of them when it's a close to even option. I'd say to put like 50 dollars on a site and only do 1 dollar bets over the course of 6 months or so. See a realistic breakdown of what your return over investment is in that time. A realistic number on that, 50 dollars invested, wouldn't be nearly as much as you think and honestly you would probably go broke well before the 6 months. If you ended that 6 months with 65 or more dollars then you should look into taking it more seriously. Bet consistently, don't chase in a losing streak by doubling your bets and so on. See how it works out over that time.

Ok thanks for the response. I'll probably just stick with studying hard on the poker and avoid it all together

Betting an sport is not the best way to earn. Good luck comes and goes, nothing depends on your decisions.

Well in casino it probably depends whether you get (very) big win or not so i'd say that betting and poker are way more profitable ... Also you know that the most whether you miss out with sports betting - you'd atleast try it and then decide whether to carry on or stop it :)

You can basically say that about gambling over all cause poker, casino and betting are all quite unique i guess with each of them having positive and negative sides ;)
