Yesterday, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers responded to criticism that he has not been vaccinated despite saying in a press conference months ago that he was "immunized". Now he has tested positive for COVID and will miss at least one game for his team - possibly more (ten game mandatory sit out for unvaxxed player testing positive). If he had been vaccinated, he would have only missed games until he tested negative twice (I think).

To the "woke media" storm about how he was deceptive in the press conference, he spoke vaguely about the world trying to "cancel" him and how his "medical team" had provided him with immunity through unspecified methods (that AFAIK include homeopathy).

He then went on to criticize an NFL protocol for unvaccinated players. The protocol states that unvaxxed players must wear a mask while responding to questions in the post game press conference.

This is what he said:
""Some of the rules to me are not based in science at all. They're based purely in trying to out and shame people, like needing to wear a mask at a podium when every person in the room is vaccinated and wearing a mask makes no sense to me," Rodgers said Friday on the show. "If you got vaccinated to protect yourself from a virus that I don't have as an unvaccinated individual, then why are you worried about anything I can give you?"

This is one of the stupidest most selfish statements I've heard yet (and I've heard hundreds) from someone who cares only about themself in the middle of a Pandemic.

He has stated that he had an allergy to a couple of the vaccines,,, 2 out of the big 3 and the third one (Johnson + Johnson) was recalled,,, so he had to take another route.

He said he was allergic to ingredients in mRNA vaccines (without stating which ingredient(s)). He then incorrectly stated that the CDC website says to avoid vaccines that contain an ingredient that you are allergic to (it actually says to avoid a second dose if you have a severe allergic reaction to a first). He then falsely stated that the J&J vaccine had reports of a large number of severe reactions - it did not, and was not recalled.

100% agree with everything you said.

He has stated that he had an allergy to a couple of the vaccines,,, 2 out of the big 3 and the third one (Johnson + Johnson) was recalled,,, so he had to take another route.

He is lying every time he opens his mouth. I am (was) a HUGE Aaron Rodgers fan - no respect left for him at all after this.

As I said … every time he opens his mouth about this more lies spill out. He deserves a 10 game ban and the Packers are my 2nd favorite team - love them.

Since he is willing to take Ivermectin, a medicine meant for animals, but is not willing to get a vaccine extensively tested and approved for human use, I think that covid is probably the least of his problems!!

This is completely false, Invermectin for animals is a different drug, though CNN would prefer to lie about it

"...In 2015, the Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine, in its only award for treatments of infectious diseases since six decades prior, honoured the discovery of ivermectin (IVM), a multifaceted drug deployed against some of the world's most devastating tropical diseases. Since March 2020, when IVM was first used against a new global scourge, COVID-19, more than 20 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have tracked such inpatient and outpatient treatments. Six of seven meta-analyses of IVM treatment RCTs reporting in 2021 found notable reductions in COVID-19 fatalities, with a mean 31% relative risk of mortality vs. controls. During mass IVM treatments in Peru, excess deaths fell by a mean of 74% over 30 days in its ten states with the most extensive treatments. Reductions in deaths correlated with the extent of IVM distributions in all 25 states with p < 0.002. Sharp reductions in morbidity using IVM were also observed in two animal models, of SARS-CoV-2 and a related betacoronavirus. The indicated biological mechanism of IVM, competitive binding with SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, is likely non-epitope specific, possibly yielding full efficacy against emerging viral mutant strains...."

Hmmm. Not aware of how Aaron Rogers, multi-millionaire quarterback could be cast as 'down' in any particular life scenario.

Apart that is from his own pre-emptive framing of the 'woke' attempting to 'cancel' him. But that screams nothing but snowflake to me.

For whatever reason, something never sat right with me regarding Aaron Rogers. Not his play, but rather his general smugness and yet sensitivity to any criticism. I thought his behavior through the summer was unnecessary, period.

And so somehow, this revelation did not surprise me as Rogers never struck me the intellect he posed he was.

So, I am happy for the deserved blow back he has received although some within the football community tried to give him a pass with 'it's a private decision'. No it isn't and that's the bloody point. Aaron Rogers has interacted with countless players, staff, media and the public over the past few months with no regard to the fact he could have endangered their health.

But, the aspect I have enjoyed the most is when Rogers proffered excuses for his 'immunized' deception he referred to his BFF, the world renowned virologist Dr. Joe Rogan. A clown car on fire at that blessed point.

What in the world did he think would happen? He lies about being vaccinated, then gets medical advice from talk radio. He can't be a spokesperson for real healthcare. Duh. Can't believe he's blaming anyone but himself for this.

Read a really funny thread on Aaron Rogers the other day and this is just one sequence of replies one to another which cracked me up.

Karen Rodgers...

You misspelled "Qaaron" ...

Wonderful job here. Qaaron is a thing of beauty...

I'm partial to "Throw Rogan" ...

From a train, or a cliff? ...

Let's Go, Rogan! ...

We're not doing "Let's go Karen" instead of "F*** you, Aaron"?

I think this behavior says a lot what it's like is in touch with team leadership!
Quite amazing, in vain they perform well in the league, as if that absolutely didn't interest him!, and if your relationship with leadership isn’t good then at least you owe it to your teammates so much that you don’t put them in that position!
Truly selfish behavior

If you take the vaccine you are protecting yourself.
I think you should urge others (family and friends) to take the vaccine for THEIR protection, based on the current information about the vaccine's (approved vaccines) effectiveness against the virus.
The problem I have with the Aaron Rodgers situation is lying to people about his vaccination status. It is his choice to be vaccinated or unvaccinated but he, and anyone else should not be lying to people about that choice.

Disclaimer: I am a lifelong Packers hater lions fan.

If you look into that drug it’s not just used for animals and doctors are losing their credentials over the lack of use of it all of a sudden why ? and the Blatant banning of a product used decade after decade for many issues but abruptly and for no reason is banned to them and they’re losing their jobs findin it agriculturally to give to people helping them instantly ! cmon now ....think

I admire him now... used to dislike his ego, but given his appropriate stance on the entire idiocy of the past two years, I think he is a total breath of fresh air - no pun intended - that our gullible species needs in the worst way... take the damn stupid masks off you fools and stop being cowards about life. Land of the free, home of the brave? All I see are a bunch of order-following slaves cowering in their masks under "lockdown". Completely disgusting when its just the goddamn flu they've re-labeled and hyped to the moon... thank you for being a voice of reason Aaron Rodgers.

P.S. Hate on me all you like, I don't give a damn what anyone thinks about me or my views, I believe in liberty and the freedom to make my own health decisions without government acting like totalitarian idiots. It's what America was founded upon and it is tragic how everybody has forgotten those ideals. Tragic but very unsurprising, America spit the bit a LONG time ago (witness Black Friday April 15, 2011 when our right and our freedom to play on sites like poker stars was stolen from us and to this very day has not been remedied by our damn government... hell yeah I'm still bitter about it).

Agree with you!!! Seems to me he is acting like do as I say not as I do and the rules don't apply to him. Shows his lack of respect for his team mates as last I looked there is no "I" in the word TEAM

Cheers all:D

Rodgers-tests negative-has to wear mask at podium based on unvaccinated status-vaccinated people, who still spread the virus just as easily, don't have to wear a mask at the podium-this is all so vaccinated people aren't subjected to the virus that rodgers has tested negative for and they've been vaccinated against. Yeah, doesn't sound very scientific at all to be honest. Why wouldn't everyone just be required to wear a mask? The inconsistent polices and "approved" information have been a huge problem and the number one detriment to fighting the pandemic. When people can see things aren't exactly making sense from even a quick glance, it makes people weary.

Not really completely relevant to the thread, but I wanted to ask what your thoughts are had Black Friday not happened, specifically with full tilt poker, given the aftermath, and how they didn't have the liquidity to pay out their players, that it took pokerstars to do that. I totally understand your bitterness about that, and I would be too if I were in your shoes.

But, is it possible that just maybe Black Friday may have saved online poker from a REAL catastrophe. Imagine Full Tilt still operating and not having the money to cover the balances on the site?

In any event, here's hoping that the US federal government does do something, though given that it's been 10 years, I hold little optimism they will do much. It will be done bit by bit at state levels.
