A Cold Super Bowl/NFL

The super bowl is going to be played in New York?

The reason for this is they wanted to "reward" New York for 911.

Don't get me wrong 911 was awful and a tragedy but to "reward" them? Maybe reward wasn't the right word but even so..

People are paying up to 10k+ for (one) ticket to go to the Super Bowl they should be at least warm instead of suffering in the cold.. After the superbowl people should be able to enjoy themselves outside instead of not wanting to stay in the hotel because of the temp outside..

The NFL IMO is sooo cheezyyy and try to be idk.. main streamish??

Example: they have people like Beyoncé sing for the super bowl half time? Sure there are people that like Beyoncé but I'm willing to bet that the majority of football fans are not. They even had Selena Gomez performing at halftime during Thanksgiving this year. (Are you kidding me?)

The only decent band I can think of that played a halftime show for the NFL was the Rolling Stones forever ago..

If people are paying up to 10 grand they should have a unforgettable performance at half time..

Why not have ACDC perform at half time?

That or start having the cheer leaders from every team getting together and have an orgy. I guarantee the higher % of NFL fans would prefer that.

Why go sit in the cold, put up with all the yahoos and don't forget no parking or tailgating. They dogged Atlanta because of a freak ice storm and it was in a dome. Hope it's cold and rainy, perfect football weather and conditions for the halftime hack.

Anyway, I agree that the NFL is beyond "cheezy" and having a cold SB will suck for those stupid enough to pay for seats. Never heard the terrorist attacks being the reasoning behind it. I thought it more likely that the commish being from NY himself was reason enough to bring money to the state. Heck, he handed 2 SBs to the GNATS that defied all reality didn't he?

Not gonna get into the location stuff - though from a complete outsider's perspective (ie: I'm half a world away so I'm never gonna get to attend, just watch on TV) a Superbowl in the snow would be an awesome spectacle.

Agree on the halftime shows - only one I can think of in recent memory that was really good was Springsteen. Of the others I can remember:

- Black Eyed Peas were easily the worst, going through the motions with their cold, dead eyes. Purely doing it for the money, didn't seem the least bit excited to be there

- The Who were pretty bad too. I think the league must still have been going ultra-conservative at that point with the hangover from Nipplegate because gawd they were boring. Only pop I remember them getting from the crowd was when everyone went "Oh hey, the CSI theme tune!"

- The Madonna year was a good show on the whole, but Madonna personally got shown up by every single person that stepped on stage with her

- Beyonce was OK last year. And I won money on a prop bet with a friend during her set (that Jay Z wouldn't make an appearance)

Dunno what they're thinking with Bruno Mars this year - over here he's had one song that people will probably recognise, is he a lot bigger in the States or something? I just have trouble seeing him carrying the whole show.

AC/DC playing halftime would easily be the greatest show they've ever had. Don't see it happening though unfortunately

All that said though, shouldn't the game be the experience that people are paying up to $10K for, not the halftime show?

Yes the game should be what is important but halftime is longer during the super bowl and if people are paying 10k they shouldn't be tortured during this time frame lol

Maybe its just my taste in music (I like Rock music) so when having Selena Gomez on stage for something like this is ehhh to me,,
