It starts today, who will be following the Ashes this year, the Aussies imo are going to spank England's butt.

My prediction is 5-0 win to Australia.

Well, that's not going to happen!

2nd test starts tomorrow Nick - what's your prediction now?

I think it all hangs on the 2nd test.

This thread was so quiet after my OP I ended up forgetting I made it.

Whoa! You been watching Nick? Ugly day for Australia so far in the 4th. 60 all out!!! Broad 8-15!!!

At 1.4 overs I was feeling lousy, at 2.4 overs I switched TV channels, I don't get it, how can a team play like they did in the 2nd test and then play like they did in the 3rd and 4th tests, all credit to your bowlers, Broad had a great game, he deserves all the accolades he gets.

8-15 are fantastic figures.

LOL Ste.

I never followed it but my dad told me what was going on and he doesn't like cricket either :D

Australia will definitely win it back next Ashes series, don't worry zorbs :)

FYP.

I'm not worried, I think I like the rivalry more than the sport, (the 5 day variety doesn't do it for me much anymore, I prefer the limited over games) I played for many years but when you get a chance to stir up the English, as an Aussie I have to take it.

:)

The 5 day game is the best :top:

The Aussies played just we did in the 80s & 90s - wafting and prodding outside off-stump only to find people in the slips to catch the ball :) (cunning plan eh? )

Worst of all for Australia is the fact that new zealand gave us a much tougher battle ;)

I was expecting a Australian loss but the way England thrashed them is kinda shocking.

Test matches now seems boring even 50 over version sometimes. 20 over keeps the game exciting & enjoyable.

The Aussies struggled to make 20 overs that first morning :D

I love it when the Poms stick it up the Okkers.
Was umpiring my grandsons team the other day and 7 year old kids were sledging.
Consider that cheating.Good teams win on their merits without goading batsmen into mistakes.
We are playing you in a series soon, Nick.
Also believe test cricket is the best the hit and giggle games do little for me, even though we have a great exponent in our line-up, Brendon McCullum.
I hope for the best but expect the worst on your tracks:D

It's good for the game that it's going back and forth. For years Australia were way too good and England struggled to ever win a series.

They did bat shockingly but I put that down to your bowlers and the movement off the pitch that they were able to get, and as they say catches win matches, your guys just kept catching them, much better than in the past from them.

I still like the 5 day game, I just find myself doing other things while it's on, like getting on the net and other things around the house, whereas the limited over game keeps my attention longer, especially T20, I think the Muricans would get into T20, lots of action to keep them interested.

;)

Next time maybe :D

That Warne bloke :shot: has booked the Dodgers, Yankees & Chicago Cubs grounds for a series of T20 exhibitions in November .

Chicago & New York in November  - better wear your thermals Shane :D

There was no way the Aussies would have lost the last test, They had to make the series look closer than what it was, 3-2 looks better than 4-1 in the record books.

I didn't know that Warnie was doing that, like you say Chicago & New York in November Brrrrr, will there be any turf, and how hard will the wickets be, I suppose they will be frozen hard, or mushy after the thaw

With the right promotion it might take off over there.

I was right Nick - no test went longer than day 4. Don't remember when that happened before.

Didn't know that tid bit, The one day games are going OK for us so far, would like it if they were closer.

What do you think about the dismissal of Stokes.

Having a cricket ball chucked at you from 18 yards away and diving back in to your crease - you also think to put your hand up behind yourself on purpose to obstruct the ball - wow, with reactions like that, Stokes must be some kind of superhuman

Watson retiring from Tests - is the country in mourning? :D

I'm not sure of what rule is on handling the ball like he did, I am under the impression that if it hit him in the back he would have been OK, it was his action of using his hand that got him out.

I only saw the replay on the net here

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket...n-in-controversial-match-20150905-gjg1fw.html

I didn't hear of Watson's decision, He will be missed, glad he is still going to play one day games.

It does look kind of bad in the slow motion - but real time speed it looks more like he's just diving away with his hand up to protect himself.

From our point of view it's hard to say at normal seed, but that's why the umpires are paid I suppose.

It was a harsh way to get given out.
