About 2 years ago my neighbor changed his personal WiFi Network settings and since then I can no longer log on to pokerstars on my PC. This is a huge disadvantage- I cannot take notes, I cannot see more than one tourney at a time, and I am much more prone to misclicks, and I cannot use an HUD which I'm sure all the other regs are using. Despite this I still do pretty well for myself, but i can do a lot better.

I have spoken to PS and they state that there needs to be visible wifi networks to confirm your location or the geolocation check fails. Now maybe for those that are more savvy with wireless protocols, perhaps there are ways to say mount an antenna on my house and view other networks. I live in a rural area but there are many neighbors sorta nearby. I'm bad at judging distances, but perhaps 50- 75 yards to 200 yards, and there are also signal boosters and what not. This is seriously hurting my game and I hope someone has a viable solution. I do not need to log on to these networks, they just have to be visible.

For some reason I have no problem logging on with my mobile phone. Thanks a million.

I'm not sure at all what you are trying to say here?
Sure, it is possible that your neighbour's wifi can create issues with your wifi. But the internet does not come to your house via wifi. So how is it delivered?

Currently using mobile hot spot as there is no broadband option. I cannot see any other wifi networks in the area so Stars will not allow me to log on stating that I am out of state- which I am not.

I'll try to help... But first we need to debug this step by step, and the terminology might not be accurate either.

1) You said you are using 'mobile hot spot'.
Do you mean that you have an external device that takes a sim card (like Verizon Orbic Speed 5G UW Mobile Hotspot) or do you use your phone as hot spot to share its internet connection with your PC?

2) You said that everything works on your phone.
So help me to understand. Do you have two sim cards? One for the external hot spot and another for your phone? Are they from different providers?

I have spoken to PS and they state that there needs to be visible wifi networks to confirm your location or the geolocation check fails.
This makes no sense to me. PS most likely checks your location by your IP address. None of the near by wifi networks should not make any difference. And this is probably a misunderstanding.

There is no misunderstanding here. I've spoken with may customer service reps that stated in order to pass Geolocation you need to be using Wi-FI as well as have other Wi-FI networks visible. It is the data obtained from these other Wi-Fi networks that is used to locate your geographical location. The fact that I am 20 miles from the border and the info from my own cell phone data hot spot obtained from local cell phone towers is not enough.

I am looking into a large external antenna that would allow me to see other WiFi Networks but I do not know enough about the different kinds of hardware to do this.

I live on a mountain a few miles outside of town. I have considered moving into town where this would not be an issue, however my rent is sooo low where any gains from moving would be offset by the increase in rent.

If there was an advancement in local service where I could subscribe to a reliable broadband ISP, I would still not be able to detect other Wifi networks with my current set up.

I had a problem with Pokerstars regarding changing my geolocation, probably due to the purchase of a new laptop and therefore Pokerstars suspicions regarding the confirmation of my identity. During my communication with technical support, I proved to them that I don’t necessarily have to play poker only on my network. I have the right to take a laptop and even play in another country or go to relatives. And regarding your PokerStars program on your laptop, which does not display some client options, my advice is to simply reinstall the new PokerStars client. You need to delete all PokerStars files on your laptop, request the PokerStars client installation file for your region from technical support and check the result
The best option is to immediately reinstall the operating system on your laptop.

Okay then.

Still it sounds like Stars is making up their own rules, which they can do of course. But no one can be expected to live in a place where there are other wifi networks close by. And here in Europe I have never even heard of a similar situation.

So why is that they are okay for you to play with phone on Stars? You didn't answer the question if your phone has its own internet provider, but if it has, could you just share your phone connection with your PC?

Normal sense would dictate that your right to play is determined by your home address (which is proven by documents) and not by where you happen to be in any point in time. But I can't say that know how things work in the US.
I am looking into a large external antenna that would allow me to see other WiFi Networks but I do not know enough about the different kinds of hardware to do this.
The problem with wifi antennas is that they don't really built them for that kind of use. Usually people wish to extend their own wifi network so it works better in the house/yard. But trying to reach someone else's wifi from a long distance is really not in demand. Of course there are some DIY videos on Youtube of how build wifi antennas for this kind of use.

But if all else fails, then your best bet might be a talk with your neighbour if that is how all started in the first place.
