What limits we play

During my time away from CardsChat I cruised a lot of other forums and found a ton of folks claiming they clean the fish at 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10 tables. I admit that during my first foray online (about a year ago) I turned $50 into $450 at pokerstars fairly quickly. Thinking I was God's gift to poker and frustrated by crazy play at lower limits, I jumped up to 3/6 and was broke in about 2 sessions. I'm wondering about the limits we folks play at.

I'll start. For cash ring games I generally play .25/.50 or .50/1.00 limit, I almost never play NL except for once in a while at a .05/.10 or .10/.20.

For SNGs and other buy-ins I play $5 and $10 pretty regularly and have played a few at $20+.

I probably have between $250 - $350 at various sites including resting in my neteller account. I've probably have made deposits of around $175 so I'm up a bit overall. Do we have the higher limit, big money players here?

i have played loads of 3/6 on party and noble and gathered money rather well

was on the verge of getting into the 5/10 tables until a friend of mine got me playing some $200nl and pissed away far too much

started playing some PL Omaha this week on prima and its going rather well so far, just at the low levels at the moment ie blinds of 10/20 and 25/50 cents

its a bit refreshing to be back at the low levels *again* got to stop wasting money when i push my bankroll to higher than previously experienced

Almost exactly the same here, except I prefer NL.

Also trying out micro-limit (.04/.08) Stud H/L, but it makes my head hurt so I'll probably give up on it soon unless I start memorising outs and odds given folded cards and cards on show. The great thing about low limit Stud though is the tables are generally even more loose/passive than micro LHE tables, so it's not hard to profit, but it is hard to figure out any idea of how to play properly from them.

I currently play any where from 1$-10$ SNG's
I play 10-20c NL Holdem and 25-50c NL Holdem
I play 1/2$ Limit Holdem also

I am too interested in what fellow cards chat members play.

2/4 and 3/6 on betfred - find it focuses mind better than low level nonsense. Can be roller coaster ride though - went from 140 down to 30 back up to 70 in 2 hours, then up to 170 in next 2 hands!

To 'Dook and Rob: What kind of bankroll do you generally bring to the 3/6 tables? I'm debating about consolidating some accounts and playing the higher limits to test myself. I'm a much better player than I was this time last year and I'm wondering if I could hang with the folks at the bigger tables...

on party 3/6 think i sit with 200 but i kinda forgotten cause its been a month since i last sat there

hmm actually iirc its 250 default buyin but i sit with 300 as its easier to work out how much up and down I am overall when I multitable

specially when I then convert win/loss into £

you can play on 3/6 fine with 200 though

I've been at the rings more and more myself. I still have a big chunk of Noble bonus to clear - wish they credited SNGs. Don't really like the rings at Noble much either except for early AM, I think this is when a lot of Europe folks play and they aren't nearly as obnoxious...

Hi All,
I reguarly play at the 20/40 limit on paradise, infact i would say anywhere between 4/5 hrs a day and then i play the 20k and 50k tournies. To maximise profits,i play two at once,i've seen some guys play at 4!:adore: I've played a few 40/80 limit games but there are rarely enough players, i'm more suited to a full 10 player cash game than say 3 /4. Its not unusual for me to loose $500 a day but then again neither is it to win in excess of $1000. The avg pot is $300 so a couple of good hands can have you made for the day. The level of play is good, obviously there are no maniacs playing every hand but you still see people chasing the river down for that magicial Ace. Every now and again i drop back to 5/10 just to take the pressure off for the day to make good money. I never play NL cash games, they were all i played at first but soon realised the money is in limit. I realise not many people can afford such high stakes but i'm working on saving my bankroll to go and tour the states. I feel i need to test myself against the best to gauge where i am. However i still love to play the cardschat freerolls as they are just pure fun and a chance to meet everyone else.

$120 - $150 ish - you can put in over $50 in in one hand at 3/6, so it probably isn't enough.

I'm just trying to play 1,000 raked hands to clear $100 bonus on Betfred - almost there!

Right now I am playing the $1/$2 NL ring games and have been having a lot more success there than at the lower limits that I used to play. But mostly I play SNGs. Usually the $5-$10 variety.

I mostly play 25/50c or 20/40c, haven't dared any higher. Don't play NL at the moment, though it used to be my favorite. I realized, risk at limit is lower and the profit is about the same for me. Don't like the micro levels, played them in the very beginning but cause every one playing almost every hand, I found my good hands being cracked too many times. Haven't played many tourneys so far, ring games for now have been more profitable. Still will give it a go in the near future again. Don't know about the stake , yet, any suggestions?

i've haven't even been playing a year online or live yet so i'm still a micro player

i've built my bankroll from freerolls up to about 130 now

i regularly play 0.05/0.10 --> .50/1.00 limit OH/8 ring games now, whichever's got the most players at the tables
i also play some really low-limit OH/8 PL games too

in regards to holdem, i haven't played limit cash games yet, its just not my style, but i plan to learn
and sometimes i'll hit up 0.10/0.20 NL tables to double up with the fish if i'm doing poorly at OH tables

i also play alot of $2 winner-take all SnGs
and some small buy-in freezouts

Well,

I guess I am one of the cheapos here. I still play nano limit game 1/2 penny and 2/4 penny. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth the headache. But, I just don't feel comfortable at levels higher. I hate losing so I can get pretty bent out of shape at 5/10 cent or 25/50 cent when I lose. So, I think for now I am better off where I am.

Right now Im trying to clear Nobles bonus so Im 2 tabling $1-$2 Limit. 4 crowns per raked hand and I cant "mess up big" with limit by being distracted by the other table. Once thats cleared I'll probably go back to playing $5-$20 tourneys and a little .25-.50 NL. Had good luck with the 1/2 limit this weekend, though. You would be surprised how many people call bets all the way to the river with top pair/ weak kicker.

But they're also much better, so I'd stick to your own lot if i were you! From your play in Noble buy-in a couple of weeks ago (battling back from short stack) you'd definately hold your own in 3/6. There's the same amount of compulsive callers, ace hangers and flush chasers as the lower levels - i've often seen people blow $100 + in hour or 2 - some people just have more money than we do. There are better players, but if you're proficient enough to spot this you'll be ok.

I've not got much money, but betting 50c (25p) a bet doesn't do anything for me!

Rob, do I detect a bit of European superiority here? Actually I do find a lot of the UK and European folks very adept and they're also much more polite than the american kids that frequent the sites. Don't mind competition at all my friend.

Still stinging from my foray into 3/6 a year ago when I thought I was a player...

I play .25/.50 limit mainly for cash and occasionally .50/1 limit and .01/.02 and .05/.10 NL.

I usually play the $5+.50 or $6+.50 SNGs on PokerStars.

MTT wise I play $1-$5 range, my bankroll is almost ready to move up to .50/1 limit and the $10+$1 tournament range...
