I wonder if there's like a way for SA GG players to create a group where we can help each other with info. I have seen a bunch of SA flags throughout my time playing tourneys

As cliche as it may be I'm not apposed to a whatsapp or telegram group...

I've had a look at SA ranking and will try to contact those players to see if they are in groups at the moment.

Joined recently. Impossible to deposit real money. Sad. Any advice? Tried various ewallet options but bank will not deposit to those either. Seems SA banks have a blanket ban on the site itself AND the other deposit options AS WELL!! neteller, skrill...bank refuses the deposit. Luxon...same. So no way to play for real :-(

Thanks. Yeah I figured as much. Not ideal at all, especially when you consider future withdrawal problems that would be encountered. Guess we need to physically go see what the deal is at Grandwest and play in person :-(

For what its worth, I dont see players from South Africa on pokerstars or on ACR Poker. So it seems like, it might be a very tough country to play online poker from.

It indeed is. I think they are heavily regulated for a while now. On Acr its possible that they are allowed but im too lazy to check lol.

For sure, some sites tell you immediately that as a SA player you're not welcome. 888 for example have a huge notice as soon as you open their page advising SA players are no longer allowed. GG allows us, but depositing real money seems to be impossible. Any visa card deposit to your GG account is always declined. I think I may be able to bypass the SA banks ban on Visa card deposit to ewallets that GGPoker use though (yes, SA banks even prevent you using Skrill, Neteller, Luxon, etc by restricting deposit to them via bank card). I think it may be possible to deposit to a useable ewallet via a manual bank transfer using the SWIFT code. Same in reverse. In this way the bank can't refuse the transaction as it's just direct manual bank to bank transaction (the ewallet company's bank then credit your ewallet account on their App and your SA bank is none the wiser that you have deposited funds to an ewallet app that can be used to deposit to GG). Withdrawal would be the same in reverse. Hopefully I will be able to test this method soon.

I guess, you could try this. But if they have a list of online sites, where your credit card can not be used, then I guess, they could also have a list of the bank accounts used by these companies and decline any request for a SWIFT transfer to these accounts. I would also guess, that if SAs government has this policy against e-Vallets, then perhaps this also include crypto exchanges? And probably not only to prevent online gambling but also moving money around outside the official banking system in general?

Its almost to the point, where your best option might be to enlist the help of someone outside SA, send them cash with a service like MoneyGram, Western Union etc. and have them make the deposit for you. But if its that complicated, I might personally just give it up to be honest with you. As you say, there is also the issue, how you are going to get money out again, should you win anything. So whatever you do, I would definitely advice you to not deposit more, than you can lose without feeling devastated about it.

Only Luxon Pay for Swedes (I think) if you want to take your money out. Terrible poker site to withdraw from for citizens of many countries it seems.

Hi folks. I have to say that Luxon have been SUPER helpful in their interactions with me and they assure me a bank transfer will work and fund my Luxon account. I won't go into detail but I have had to email them and they know their stuff and seem capable of delivering. They seem to have this setup specifically for clients that encounter such problems (I believe canada is similar). Interestingly I see Luxon appears to be a Canadian company so it ties in. Any hoo (lmao) I will deposit the minimum of 20 Euros first and then try (if that is successful) to get funds into my GG account via my Luxon account. Withdrawal is still an unknown, but one problem at a time I guess. Luxon say any withdrawal would be the same bank transfer method. Anyway, if this first phase fails then I give up lol. Thanks all, I'll update progress as it happens.

Well, if Luxon works well in your Country you can probably get your money out easily.

In sweden, several banks won't accept transfers from Luxon directly to (or from) a bank account so you must take several extra steps, and since I only play for fun nowadays it's too much hassle for me.

But good luck, and I hope you get the opportunity to withdraw several times.

Thank you, that is very helpful to know beforehand 👍I guess I try the minimum bank transfer to Luxon and see if that works. If it does then presumably back from them should also be OK. I am preparing for disappointment when I press the send button for the bank2bank transfer though lol.
