Recently I have made a 50€ deposit on pokerstars (I used stars600 code which means I received no money from them). After that I played a couple of SnGs. The competition was very hard compared to 888poker so around 5 days later I wanted to withdraw the money that I had left (i lost I think 6 or 7 SnGs for 1,5$ buy in).

One day after I made my request I received an email from pokerstars saying they need a reason for my withdrawal of money. I replied saying the reason is that competition on pokerstars is higher then 888poker so I am leaving.

Today I received an email saying that it is illegal to withdraw money from pokerstars unless it is earned and my funds have been refunded to pokerstars account.

I did not know this was possible. I am just a poker player that started playing 2 weeks ago. I started playing at 888poker but in some hours there are not many players so I thought pokerstars would be better and everyone says how pokerstars is biggest and best.

What should I do? I don't want to lose the 55$ i have left on my pokerstars account.

Is this true?Does PokerStars need a reason for a withdrawal someone requested?

I think PokerStars is doing this to avoid money laundering schemes. People depositing dirty money then withdrawing a couple of days later pretending they "won" it on Stars.

Since you are new to PokerStars, your account haven't been audited (verified) yet. So if you insist on withdrawing before playing for a reasonable time, they will ask for proof of identity and residence.

.

This

It looks fishy to deposit and the try to withdraw the same funds. Despite the very small mount, it looks like laundering. If you make a deposit, it assumed you do so to play, and if you then try to withdraw those same funds, it is going to raise suspicion.

I agree with the money laundering explanation, international financial auditors may be checking PS because of the massive amount of money coming in and out of their system.

Perhaps what you experienced is a way of PS protecting themselves from being used or accused as an instrument to perform money laundering activities.

They did that to me too, they first concern in money laundering, i had won nice money from CC games 100+ bucks, i deposited 30ish bucks and wanted to withdraw some part of it, 60 to me exact to buy HEM, they let me withdraw 30 but declined 30. after few PMs with support and me sending my id card everything was OK in next 24 hours, so i eventually withdraw the money i planed and after it the remaining of my funds there

Isn't it because you made use of a bonus and u need to play x hands / win x money to cash out? I don't know what money laundering is so i'm not sure if that means the same.

Yeah, not sure I quite understand OP since he says he deposited $50, lost a few SnGs, and then tried to withdrawal $55? Maybe they're just saying he can't withdraw the bonus part of his roll?

And that's how many $$s? Too confusing since he says he deposited in eiros but uses the $ symbol when he talks about his withdraw.

50 euros is 60ish bucks...
Im not sure about depositing and withdrawing thing but i have skrill in euros and when i deposited at stars i deposited dollars so my funds were converted to dollars and credited to my stars account. Now i can only withdraw dollars from stars, if i try to withdraw euros it is not problem it just get converted to dollars then credited to my skrill where it gets converted to euros and i lose a tiny bit of money every time i withdraw and it will be that way till i deposit again but this time deposit euros and then convert them to dollars on stars then ill be able to withdraw euros directly...
Anyway currency is not the problem here, probably is not the deposit bonus either, the funds that needs to be cleared first are showed as reserved and are not avaliable to withdrawal at all, here he already requested withdrawal and after a review they denied it.. Support will have to have an answer and solution for it, you'll either have to play more to generate more rake or you'll have to send some ID to them...

PokerStars is a poker site not a bank. So if you deposit $4000 you are expected to play accordingly.

dont agree with this. it is our choice what stakes do we Play . and if we Need Money we should be able to withdraw at any given time.

All the poker sites do all These Kind delays in order to Keep hold of Players Money for Long time . They must be earning very handsome interest on it.

They say they Keep the Money in different seg ac , but who knows ?

You are poker player but u also should think smart outside the poker world,
so you expect they keep the money in a bank right? do u know most banks do not allow their customers to put and withdraw so frequently? it is not good for the liquidity.. banks would have trouble in liquidity since they reinvest your deposit. So if pokerstars deposit your money into banks, you know which rules they use, rite? or if u are able to withdraw money anytime very fast after you deposit, then u can assume they do not put your money into banks. should I explain more?

He probably have really conservative BRM :D

:) :) :) ok,this is a funy :)
but..BRM is personal thing, each by itself determines, is not determined by any law that must be respected.
which means that if someone wants to play a 2 NL and depoisit 4000..does not violate any rules.
