There is a GG Reddit forum that is asking players what they think

Also, on Twitter ('X') some players are talking about it. I'm not sure if there's an organized post with hopes of something happening about it.

The opt out from sharkscope services was existing for GG-Network, as it was for PokerStars.
It existed before that move.

(GG) probably doesn't want people to look at his cards anymore and would rather publish his own great statistics or better none at all.

This is just another confirmation for me that it was good to delete my account on GG.

They should rather stay with their browser games where they belong.

Definitely a bad move by GG Poker. With that being said the value of Sharkscope was already diluted by the opt-out feature. Many regs have opted out, and one would assume, that most cheaters are smart enough to do the same. So we already had to rely mainly on site security to track down cheaters. What is more important is the fact, that it now also become much more difficult for players to track their own results. Which is especially problematic on a site like GG Poker, which also does not allow the use of trackers. But apparently GG Poker prefer its players to be kept in the dark, if for instance they are burning money in Spins but winning in MTTs.

Think about how this affects the staking feature that GG has for MTT play. Now you what... just take the person's say-so that they're a winning player, have played decent volume at the buyin level they're selling a piece of??? It makes no sense!

Also, now that they are blocking the MTT Lobbys (not showing players who don't cash in the tournament.... only showing those who have finished in the money, even during 'running'), you can't even tell if a person has played a tournament or not. "Oh... did you play? You did? 3 entries you say? But didn't cash. Oh.. Ok." LoL

Any decision they make is in their interest. They are market leaders and do what they want.

The lobby thing was the weirdest change in this last update, I have no idea what possible reason they'd have for clearing entrant names pre-ITM. There are plenty of posts on X that do a good job outlining why blocking SS is a terrible idea, Onlyfriends had good discussion on it during their recent podcast here:

As a small poker player there is not much you can do, We can only hope cheating is looked at from GG department, if I was a high stakes player I would be worried.

I think, there are many things, you need to worry about, if you play online high stakes games. Including collusion, multiaccounting ghosting and RTA. GG Pokers departure from Sharkscope does not make the situation better. But to be honest, if you want to play a tournament for $10.000 or $25.000, maybe you should just forget about online poker and play live.

Any step that makes transparency difficult can be worrisome.
Unfortunately, those who play online poker are forced to trust the given poker service provider that their data and the money stored inside will not be misused.
It's a tough question, but it's better to trust than to be afraid.
