Foxwoods Vs. Mohegan Sun Vs. Atlantic City

Since it's been 2 years since the last discussion on this, I decided to start a new thread. This thread is for those living in the New York City Tri State Area who have played live games at the places mentioned above.

If I am looking for a low stakes game to play live poker, among the three, what are my best options? For me, Atlantic City is 3.5 hours away whereas Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are just 2 hours away. I don't want to drive all the way to Atlantic City if I don't have to. And I'm not looking to enter a tournament. So I have a few questions:

What stakes are offered at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun (I imagine AC has everything)?

Do these places get crowded on weekends to the point where I will have trouble finding a table to sit down at?

Any other thoughts?

I play at Mohegan. Big enough room. Not huge stakes though. Foxwoods has a bigger room with High stakes and more game varities.. Enough fish at Mohegan imo and not difficult to get a seat. GL

Foxwoods spreads the most games with the most variety. You won't have to wait long there. the Mohegan room is much smaller and runs 1/2, 2/5 and occasionally 5/10, plus you'll see a few limit games.

When wanting to gamble I go to Foxwoods. When I want to leisurely walk around and play some table games or slots, I go to Mohegan. Foxwoods has it all over Mohegan for gambling.

I went to Mohegan Sun for half a day on Saturday (1/15). Trying to find the right parking lot was a bit confusing but I managed to find one and walk in. The second I walked in, I thought, why not take a walk around and check this place out. Well as I was ambling around, I noticed the architecture of the casino was orchestrated in a way to get me lost. I must have walked in circles 3 times. Then I was pissed so I found a map and headed over to the poker room and observed for 15 minutes. After a while I took a seat. I enjoyed playing cards and I played for a few hours. I lost the money I started with. I am going to practice online more before I go up there again. It was a good time regardless.

I might check out Foxwoods next time.

I live in Brooklyn, so for me, I think the closest is AC. have you been there? Can anyone recommend the best casinos for close to beginner level? What is the lowest level table they have, and what is the buy-in? I see recommendations for Borgata, but it is supposed to be better players so maybe not for me. I also see recommendations for Taj Mahal, Trop and Bally's. I used to go to Bally's for other casino games years ago, and like it because it's moderate levels.

I like the atmosphere of Mohegan better but the play at Foxwoods better. Now if you are a non smoker, Mohegan's no smoking area is much better than Foxwoods. Foxwoods no smoking area is a joke, it's like 5 tables directly across from the smoking area.

Lane, Mohegan Sun offers $2 BB and $1 SB NL Hold Em tables and there were four tables playing when I arrived on Saturday (a few weeks ago). I noticed more players showed up as the day progressed who wanted to play $2 and $1 so it is not an issue. I have not been to AC before and don't plan on it since living in Stamford, Mohegan Sun is a lot closer. If you left Brooklyn on a Saturday morning, you could fly up to to Mohegan Sun in as little as 2 hours. Being a Yankees fan helps your play at Mohegan Sun too since it makes you feel better you're taking money from Boston Residents! MUAHAHAHA!

When I showed up, I was hoping to play 1/1 and so I put my name down as an interested participant. But there were 3 1/2 games going on. It seems everyone would rather play 1/2 than 1/1 when I was there. I don't know if anyone has any other experiences playing there but when I was there, no one else expressed any interest in lowering the stakes.

Only 3 1/2NL games? What time were you there? The room is typically only getting that empty ar like 4-6AM, and starts picking up not too long thereafter.

Also, both the Sun and Foxwoods are all non-smoking for the poker rooms. Though the Sun has it in a side room with doors, and Foxwoods is not so well seperated from the smoke.

I think for NLHE you're pretty much even between the two really. Maybe a bit larger player pool at Foxwoods. Far nicer room at the Sun. Comp rate is better at the Sun too.

The atmosphere at MS is far nicer than FW. FW is Waaaaaaaaaaay bigger. Over 100 tables where as Mohegan has 40. I haven't had to wait long for a game to start at either one. Maybe 5 minutes for 1/2 NL.If you play sit'n'go games some time it can take a long time to fill a table, over an hour. I am partial to Foxwoods lately as I have been winning there lately. LOL
As for AC I wouldn't make the trip, 4 hours, to play poker. If I'm there, I played at Showboat which was cool it's right on the Boardwalk and the Borgata is real classy.
Foxwoods has big tournies running in March and Mohegan has the NAPT running in April.

Almost sounds like bingo. Does anyone ever fold? What would a standard size raise be at this table? And would it actually get anyone out?

Go to Foxwoods. The play at the 1/2 tables is a joke, and they always have tables running.

Get a big wallet though, because people love to just give you money.

Never been to AC but Foxwoods and Mohegan are good places to make bank. People play real loose so dont be worried about losing a few buy-ins here and there but be persistent and you will do fine.... games running all the time at 1/2 and above.

Foxwoods better for wanting to make money playing poker, bj, etc. but I usually go to Mohegan with chicks and other friends who are more recreational players just trying to drink and have fun...

When I went to my Son's wedding in Groton I played at both Foxwoods and Mohegan. Foxwoods seemed like it had a little more serious group of players. Really enjoyed the experience in both tho. The brides mother however didn't have alot of understanding as to why I was running late to the wedding. Going back late summer to see my first grandson, looking forward to the tables while I'm there

I love me some Mohegan Sun poker room. I do well in the tourneys there and recently did quite well at the cash games. Love the room environment. Totally different atmosphere at Foxwoods. Dont sleep on the action at Mohegan. I know Foxwoods got some bigger games and players but there is defenitely money to be had at Mohegan. Ivegotouts, another member here frequents Mohegan and does very well.
