The first thing I would like to share is the rng, you are just constantly run over on the river, and almost always on a street with one card. They require an endless number of incomprehensible documents.

888 has lots of freerolls, which is good, but the blinds go up very fast in a lot of them so you wont have time to learn as much.
I learnt playing freerolls on ACR. They have a $50 freeroll every 3 hours, the prizes are tiny but the blinds go up slower so you will learn more. However ACR freeroll alternate daily between NLH PLO and PLO8, so you could just skip the PLO days if you don't want to learn PLO.

It's not a bad site at all, especially for beginners, simple layout that is easy to follow and a lot of freerolls.
A tip is to validate your ID as soon as possible and minimise any issues down the road with withdrawals.

888poker is a seemingly attractive site and the best in terms of freerolls, but your disappointment will come when you want to withdraw money.
