888 appear to be insisting I have betting up-dates

I'm getting this "request" from 888 to issue me with updates on betting and casino, which I do not want as I would never place a bet or go to the casino. Looks as if they refuse to accept my login unless I agree to it. I can't believe that doing that is legal in the UK. So I can't login.

Just seen the opt-out box, bottom left, and now I am logged in. I still dislike the idea of actually trying to encourage me to bet or go to the casino.

They are asking you to update software...

888 is a sportsbook and casino that offers a poker client, obviously they are going to try and nudge you towards their most profitable product. If you don't like how they conduct business you can boycott them and use none of their platforms but I don't know why it would be the government's responsibility to prevent a company from promoting a LEGAL product in your country because you don't like it.

There's also always the self-exclude button. If you self excluded from the casino and then you got this "request" that would actually be dodgy and I'd take your side

The reason why I thought it would not be legal is that I thought I had got to accept the notifications or not be allowed to play the poker. I have never seen the self-exclude button. Thanks for your comment.

There is an opt out button, its just asking if you want to receive marketing

be careful ! The self exclude button might exclude you from everything, including poker.
