The world series of poker Main Event recorded another milestone with 10,112 entries (71 players more than last year). To add to record-breaking numbers, this event brings the largest prize pool for a poker tournament of $94,041,600.00. The sponsor of the wsop, Caesars Entertainment, grosses $7,078,400.00. That means 7% - WSOP gets 4.9% with 2.1% held for the dealers and staff.

The final nine payout goes as follows (with the revamped WSOP schedule):

1st: $10 million ($2.1 million less than what Dan Weinman made for winning the 2023 Main Event)
2nd: $6 million
3rd: $4 million
4th: $3 million
5th: $2.5 million
6th: $2 million
7th: $1.5 million
8th: $1.25 million
9th: $1 million

Just think of how many bullets you have to dodge and long-shot river cards you have to hit to become the champion - takes a ton of skill but a massive amount of luck is needed too.

Did they keep a larger percentage of the prizepool this year? I'm just trying to figure out how the players are getting 'less' this year...

They give out almost 2 million dollars to the staff. I would be very happy just to be part of the staff xd

There was a thread and article regarding this news before the WSOP announcing a change in the payout structure for the tournaments. I think there is a brief explanation here >>> World Series of Poker Changes Player of the Year Scoring and Payout Rules for 2024

The article says that the min cash in each game will be at least double the buy-in (which is great!)... but the Main Event min cashes were $15,000..... just skimming through the other events, and it looks like the other ones are all doubled the buy-in. I guess the Main Event was the exception to the rule.

Thanks, Jason!

Here is an article on Main Event payout structure (and other events) that I found interesting and a quick read. :)

It's inflating a lot! This is becoming a kind of Mega Millions, in which a single player won a historic prize of US$1.58 billion.

I'd be happy to collect a reduced 1st place prize at the WSOP .Even 1st place in a freeroll would make my day .

Cant find the article now but they did this for tax purposes. Not a clue what that means to be honest.

Disappointed that Kristen Foxen didn't make it to the final table. Even more disappointed about how fickle poker fans and people in general are, but I shouldn't be surprised.

For the last couple of days, Foxen had a huge fan base cheering for her. Then on this last day, people are laughing at her bust out. I really shouldn't read the comments on PokerGo live lol.

In 8 days of the biggest tournament around, she made 2 costly mistakes in 2 different hands. Otherwise, she played wonderfully throughout that tourney!

I read some of the not-so-nice comments directed at Kristin. Just sigh and good thing she has thick skin. I guess when it comes down to it, her poker earnings kind of prove something, don't they?! To me, the keyboard warriors demonstrate that jealousy is a nasty trait.

I was really hoping to see her get to the final table.

I am with you brother but disappointed is not even strong enough word to use. She was who I wanted to see win this as we got under 200 players. I think she would have been great for the game of poker and would show everyone how great the lady players can be.

Yeah I don't get that as well Shells. She is one great player, and I can help but believe the ones who speak the worse about her play are probably not very advanced players.

Yes it wouldn't be a big deal if it was a male pro who had played the hand the same way.
