In 2023, Shiina Okamoto of Japan finished second in the wsop Ladies Championship NLHE. But that was last year! This year, Shiina won Event #71 WSOP 2024 Ladies Championships, $171,732.00 and a WSOP bracelet for her efforts. Runner-up this year was popular social media personality and commentator Jamie Kerstetter.

This event is officially $10,000, but women get a $9,000 discount.

I think its good if more women play poker. Actually the most players are mens. I think its a normal think that more men are good and interested in the game. Its not such a women thing. But i think if men and women are on the same numbers on entries the ladies would achieve the better places. Also the tables are more calm and humble. Go ladies raise your game and play more, it would be a better poker world.

More Japanese players have been winning bracelets the last decade or so.

Don't know if she resides in the US now but Its wonderful to see people from all over the world traveling to the WSOP where they are very welcomed every year.

Congrats to Shiina who had multiple cashes each of the last two years at the WSOP.
