Do any of the rooms at the Gold Coast or at the RIO have a mini-fridge in the room that isn't filled with alcohol?
How is one able to purchase a few groceries to prep some easy meals (even cereal, milk, snacks, yoghurt, bread,... stuff like this).if staying in a hotel?

If you're staying in a hotel, it's probably gonna be tough to meal prep. You'll probably have to stay in an Air BnB or a condo/house to do that regularly.

I suppose you could stop at a grocery store in the morning and pick up some fruits and veggies and stuff like that. But, yeah, will be a pain for those staying in a hotel.

I just checked and if you're staying at Gold Coast and want a mini fridge, you'll have to get a suite. The basic rooms don't have one, unfortunately.

All the rooms at the Rio have a fridge though.

Awesome! Thanks!
I hadn't planned on going to the WSOP this year until just a couple of days ago. Now I'm going!!!

The article mentioned that you're walking a lot more than you think, that it's easy to misjudge the distances from casino to casino and the heat involved. This is true and I averaged 4-5 miles a day on my trips there. However you can walk through almost all the casinos on the strip avoiding most the heat, it might add steps, but since when is that a bad thing? Unless you're in a time crunch it's good to stretch your legs and get some exercise for all the hours you're going to sitting at a poker table. I wouldn't have it any other way to be honest. Just wish there was an easy way to walk to the rio lol.

I found I too did a lot of walking while there. The heat wasn't a concern for me (it's very hot where I live), just the time involved with the walk to the RIO.
This year I'm considering staying at the Rio so that the most of the walking I'm doing is just in the Rio, lol. Hoping to set myself up with some easy healthy snacks/ meals though.... maybe purchase a cheap blender, some protein powder, yoghurt & fruit so I can at least mix up a couple drinks each day. And maybe also purchase a cooler in case I'm not able to access a mini-fridge in my room. (last room I stayed in while in Vegas, the fridge only had slots open for the products belonging to the casino.... No Thanks!). Hmm... maybe I pack a blender in my luggage... and use one of those coolers with the wheels on it, for my luggage??? (and I already have one, along with a cheap blender). Awesome! I didn't even have to ask for answers this time.... they just came to me from writing on here (that's just SOME of the amazing things this place can do for people like myself.... even though it's really more about what I can do for others ;) )

True and that's what I do in the summer when I'm on the Strip going from one end to another.

But if you're walking from the Rio to the Strip, there aren't any casinos you can cut through to avoid the heat until you get to Caesars which is a mile away.

Very true, I walk from the resort I stay at to the strip which is about a half a mile, before noon that's easily doable, afternoon you're just a sucker for punishment. :p

I wrote a song about it

The problem is all inside your head she said to me.
The answer is easy if you take it logically.
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be king.
There must be 50 ways to beat Phil Hellmuth.

It's really not my habit to intrude.
Further more I hope my meaning won't get lost or misconstrued.
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being cruel.
There must be 50 ways to beat Phil Hellmuth, 50 ways to beat Phil Hellmuth.

(chorus)
You just flip up your jacks Pat.
You play a good hand Stan.
You don't need to be coy Roy.
Send the chips to me.
You show him your flush Gus.
You don't need to discuss much.
You just lay down your threes Steve and you get yourself free.

She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain.
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again.
I said, I appreciate that and would you please explain about the 50 ways.
She said, why don't we both just razz on Phil tonight and I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light.
Then she check raised me and I knew that she right.
There must be 50 ways to beat Phil Hellmuth, 50 ways to beat Phil Hellmuth.

(repeat chorus)
