Satellites are for those players who have the desire to play poker but don't have the money for it. Of course, not all satellites are the same. A lot depends on the organized promotions (the number and value of tickets changes accordingly) and the price of rebuys and add-ons. But I don't think you can be successful without investing in rebuys and add-ons. Although I have been able to get the Sunday Million via satellites a few times on pokerstars without investing in rebuys and add-ons.

It’s very difficult to make money from free satellites as you need to place in the top in 2 or 3 satellites in order to make the main tournament. Then you have to finish high again in the main. So the odds are against you.
