how many years have you been playing online poker and has it been a way to make money etc?

20+ year winning micro/low stakes player at mainly pokerstars but have tried and played all the main sites.
Honest truth online poker played at micro/low stakes is a great hobby and can be a great side hustle for some extra money. Making a living playing online and having a decent quality of life is hard depending on how one defines decent quality of life, where they live and how much that costs. Most countries that I think the majority of use would wanna live in you'd likely have to make 60k-100+ depending on what ones current quality/standard of living is. In canada I'd need about 80k-100k(tax free). Likely can't make that much grinding hours daily and multi-tabling 50nl and if I didn't have a day job and depended only on poker for a living.....the wording of our tax laws have me too believe the tax man sooner or later is gonna come looking for his cut. So yeah I'd have to play at least 100nl and possibly 200nl online. I think that's a very tough player pool.
One would likely be better playing 1/2, 1/3 or 2/5 live for living over trying make a living playing mainly online. Live low stakes being a lot easier then online. The thing about live is now you gotta grind all day for hours sitting next to sweaty, old, stinky and smelling douchebags and a player pool likely half full of assholes and jerks. Doing that day after day after day after day for hours everyday......doesn't sound appealing to me.

a poker player can make even better money playing poker online than in a live tournament, since you can play many tournaments and on different sites at the same time how much to earn is another matter, but it is very difficult to make stable poker nowadays if you are not studying

I have been playing about 12 years. I am profitable, but make less than mininum wage at poker. I tried moving up to higher stakes, but I found that I lost, so I moved back down.

I've been playing for about 17 years and am, overall, in profit thanks to some big wins early on. Now I play short micros (hyper or turbos) because I can't find enough time to set aside for the longer tournaments - five hours-plus.

I have been playing poker for more than 7 years, I did made some extra cash but not that big, Its hard to make a living from poker its not giving for everyone, there are easier sources of steady income than playing poker. It is not a good/reliable/stable job for the vast majority of people... and certainly not for anyone starting out.

I've started to play poker around 17 years ago (with some pauses during this period) and I'm able to win some extra money every month, nothing that makes a big difference in my life, but still is money. And be able to do something I enjoy and also win some extra money it's very nice.

I think there are a small percentage of people who are making a good enough amount of money from online poker.
Nowadays it is much harder as everyone is a lot better with all the training sites and literature they can read.
Oh take me back to the early days when it was much easier.

hello, I've been playing poker for more than a year, at least on weekends, and on such days I play only to earn money, it works out a little, I think that you can fully support yourself with poker and refuse to work for someone. Today there are many opportunities to learn the game of poker and there are many people who can teach

I have been playing well over 20 years. I have not done so bad money wise but I really just play for the enjoyment of the game. I can win a tournament and get the same thrill winning $5.00 or $500.00

I have been playing for about 7-8 years. When I first started, poker was purely for fun and I was skeptical about the possibility of making money. Then I realized that thanks to poker I could earn an income, and then I had the idea that I might well become a professional. But after a few years, I realized that in order to earn stable and normal money playing poker, you need to work very hard, it is very hard work, and that's why I gave up on this idea. There is a huge list of jobs where you can earn money much easier than in poker. If money is your main motivation, you're better off just finding a good paying job and becoming a professional in that field.
