I assume you don't have a BR and are probably more of a candidate for the micro buy ins.
Here you are dealing with hundreds if not thousands of players. Without a lot of luck you will never reach a final table.
Just play, gain experience and look around in poker forums.
Poker-O has also suggested a few good examples which are free.
Bowserdon sums it up in his post, at least as far as the small buy-ins are concerned.

I came second in a tournament today, a freeroll with just under 1,000 players.
Be patient.
Play premium hands until you get a decent sized stack.
You will need to be a bit lucky on flips.
Know when to fold.
Take your time on big decisions.
Apply pressure if you have a large stack late in the tournament.
Watch for players on tilt, you can get their chips more easily.
Check to induce bets, let players give you their chips rather than scare them away with big bets when you know that you are most likely ahead.
Play a lot of games to get a feel for the game.
The more you play the more the flow of a tournament will become almost automatic.
You may also get a big hit to your stack, be patient and prepared to build up your stack again.
