Variance doesn't exist solely within the cards; the players are their own variant, imo. Getting to know each players' style of play will help you put them on hand-ranges in certain situations, in certain positions, blinds, etc. The variance within the cards is more or less finite. It's your cards vs 1,368 other starting combinations. Playing them in different ways in different positions can borderline infinite, perhaps. Choosing good cards pf and playing them accordingly is all you can do short of limping w/AA and hoping for a raise which, apparently, is some sort of play. Happened the other night to me but I cracked them when on my all-in flop brought the villain a set of aces on an A-J-6 board and then a 10 spiked on the turn. My KQc's held up thru the river and I doubled-up and then some. Can't forget the luck factor.
Also, try to remember to take it one decision at a time. Don't pull a "Mikey" and start thinking about your upcoming "victory" or think you've won the hand, (unless it's the absolute nuts) because that's when bad things can happen. GL.
