So I have been on my poker Journey for a year now getting introduced to the beautiful game in a friendly ”home game” above a bar in Parkhurst, Johannesburg, once a month.

the banter is great, the sweat is real and people buy back around 2 to 3 times each, and a few of us indulge in some bevvies or giggle twig,

I started looking for another game with similar energy , monte casino, gold reef casino etc, just to find myself face to face with the most grumpy and non-engaging group of MisRsegs south of the equator.

does anybody know if this is the common reality with poker or do you have to kiss a few frogs before finding a prince with a castle?

would appreciate hearing from anyone👌

Being from SA also, I think a "home game" style of play like you have above the bar is generally going to be more fun and social than playing at a casino. I have had some friendly sessions at Monti with fun people to play with, but home games are just more open and relaxed.

Dude at Monti, I don’t know if I am just shy or a lil bitch but just sitting down at the table people are kinda weird, i was taught to greet the table, as the current hand end I just pip a little ”howzit guys” and to my surprise this dude asked me why I would think it’s ok to sit at the table, that got my back up and I confirmed with the dealer that its an open table and and open seat, played around 10 hands, and just didn’t feel like there was a point staying,

anyway, have you played any of the Events and Mnote in the poker room?

Ag, it happens that you get some off tables, but for the most part I have had nice sessions there. Maybe give it another shot and if they want to be rude then it will feel much better winning their money😋.
I have not really played tournaments there. I will try it someday. Good luck with the next session💪
