Hey guys, I've been invited to a private 5/5 poker game, but im not sure to go or not? what's your general experience with private games?
Private or home game, however you would like to call it. I know two people there and thats it and not the hostI would be cautious.
What you mean by private is also obscure. Private - meaning friendly game among know individuals, or an invite to some poker club you've never heard of?
I'm not going to tell you what to do, but be careful.
There are two kinds of private poker games, neither which know what poker even is. Poker in reality is actually extremely niche game. To give you example: 98,7% people don't even know that Texas Hold'em is the most common poker game, they literally think 5 card draw that is the main poker game.
Two types of private games:
Those in lower middle class where poker is not even played properly but rather is just a social thing, rules are non-existant and crimes happen, including violeent ones. If you snitch, you will spend the rest of your life in witness protection against your consent while the criminal mastermind continues to live like a king by combining welfare with the cash flow that these activities bring him.
Then there are just regular joes, middle class or upper. Rules are again non-existant and they don't even play poker properly, it's just a social thing. All in means literally all-in, so if you got $10 and someone else has $7, you will have to wager $10 against his $7. You will have to give more money to them unless you come with the lowest amount of money to the table.... and if you keep doing that, they will get angry with you, bully you and you will spend the rest of your life as a social outcast being victim of petty crimes, bicycle theft, vandalization and nightly visits to your house just ringing the bell to piss you off.
Now I am asking you is it worth it?? IS IT WORTH IT?????
Might be time to upgrade your circle of friends, just sayin.
