That clip is 15 years now and its crazy how fast time goes by. That clip is of Eric when he was 21 who is probably a different person now. I don't know the details of the table but Jaime Gold was known for talking and going back and forth with people ALL THROUGHOUT THAT TOURN so I wouldn't judge Eric because of his age and I don't know what was going on at the table. Most of the stuff shown on TV is edited down and I really wouldn't be surprised that Eric was a decent if not good player but everyone thought they were going to step over him because of his youthful image and he wasn't going to stand for it.

The nature of NL Holdem is all about bullying, intimidation, and stealing from folks. There are ways you should conduct yourself online and live but some folks either don't know to conduct themselves or feel they've been treated one through someone's play and decide they'd give it back verbally so they do.

The other thing is playing a lot of hours for days and days in the wsop ME with having the pressure of cashing brings out the worst in people as well. So I wouldn't be so quick to judge and I'd give him a pass for being a 21 year old probably playing in the biggest tourn of his life with "characters" at the table. And I really would be surprised if the kid saw the cameras and played the part just to get on TV, lol.

If you grind on a regular basis live then the folks at the casino are going to notice you and take notice of you. I never noticed that and it hit me after grinding for awhile but a lot of folks even the ones I never played before at the cash tables knew me and the floor people were always nice but different in a nicer way after awhile, lol.

The dealers and the floor folks don't need the irritation of dealing with unruly players/folks looking to make the games "interesting" in that manner and giving that persona scares folks away that could pay your electricity bill as a professional player so acting that way can really hurt you.

And you also have to be careful with talk like that live because you never know who you're playing and a group might be waiting for you once you leave the casino property, lol. So I get that its a way of getting rid of your frustration but it will hurt you if you actually try his live and in more ways than you can come up with.

It appears that the WSOP Main Event in 2006 was the MTT highlight of this guy's life. He has hours of footage of what may be the highlight of his entire life. Not many people can say that. Congratulations to him.

He may have been a jerk but I don't think he was even the biggest jerk at that table. :)
On purpose jerks don't bother me, the on accident jerks bother me.

Oh, that's something. :D
I don't think it's worth justifying a person by referring to his young age. He was really rude. Especially in front of his parents. Upbringing is something that should be present at the tournament tables. Jamie did well- he landed him a little. Although the 6-minute penalty was a very small punishment for his behavior.
Eric didn't do very well after this event, and this is not surprising - it was his biggest victory of all time. It's more like noise for the sake of PR...

Yeah, a classic clip...but...some comments midway reminded me of what also blew up at that table. There was a lot of tension in the air and that was not the tensest incident

Watch this other PokerGo clip which they mined from the WSOP footage.. Prahlad Friedman and Jeffrey Lisandro and one of them was completely out of order...no spoilers!

I think Jamie Gold is a far bigger jerk... I would pay to see Jamie Gold, William Kassouf, Tony G, Phil Hellmuth, Shaun Deeb and young Eric Molina at the same table though.

lol, what did gold say that was more of a jerk than molina? thats hard to top

LOL i remember this, this is about when I stopped playing lol. But when you watch the clip what I bet a lot of folks don't get is these pros like Lisandro have backers to help pay the players entry fees so they can play all these tourns during these big tournament series and side bets of how well the player is going to do so its not just a "well I'm showing up and going to give it the ole college try chum" by the player, lol, NOOOOO.

They are under pressure to perform and have someone to answer to or I should say go back to and ask for more money to play all those tourns. And that's not a constructive criticism to help Lisandro by Friedman or a friendly jab, that's more of a I'm questioning your character and integrity as a person. And you can see that Lisandro is wearing some company sponsorship so he doesn't want to be associated with being a cheat or anything like that.

The whole situation was awful. Made for great TV drama though. Friedman was a very good holdem player at that time and Lisandro was a very good all around poker player in a lot of games and to think of them in this light is a bad way to remember them by. Its a shame.

let's agree to disagree. IMO Molina was a grade A jerk, Gold was just a douche bag.

Not actually a question of agreeing or not.

Those were the WSOP tournament rules - Molina swore (obviously on video to boot) and that was an automatic penalty. Molina knew it so then attempted to deny it.

I am no fan of either.

Did he cross the line here? Yes he did but I have seen this before in other players. While he came off looking like an ass and he probably deserved it for what he did we dont see what lead up to these outburst.

Having had the luck to play against one of these type "very well Known" of players I has seen the rough side of this. This being said this player who many consider a total ass-H... actual was very nice to me and what he said after he was knocked out is one of my favorite and best live poker memory. The people he was rude to were trying to get him to react and he did. I played against him and was respectful to him. What I got back was respect. Just my thought.

LOL commentary moment.....

'Makes Eric Molina over there look reasonable, what a twisted world'

Haha, love it!!

Giving this thread a bump, cos both those videos are well worth a watch by anyone who hasn't seen them. :)

I saw this before and dude is a huge jerk. I watched an old WPT game tonight and there was a guy named Michael Rocco who would give him a run for his money on the title of jerkiest player. Michael Moorman ended up getting the win. It was an entertaining FT. I loved Mike Sexton's announcing.

That’s an old video.
There’s always floor to make ruling if playing someone like this that crosses the line.

I've been with him for +9 years. <3 Yep. How everyone portrays him is not him, I promise. (But doesn't mean he won't give you shit if you deserve it. ) :)

Lolz. Don't you all feel silly!! Turns out, in reality, this guy you've (almost) all been hating on is actually, IRL, the most generous, intelligent, funny, successful, and caring "diamond in the rough" any of you have ever had the privilege of being made aware of. Trust me. After over a decade... I know. <3

So u are his girlfriend/fiancee? Its ridiculous that people still discuss this video from like 17 years ago and think this person acts like this on everyday basis and still does it.

Perhaps. ;) Agreed. And, if nothing else, people should realize that networks edit things for ratings. Not to portray reality. So all of the death threats and hate groups people create are completely unwarranted and simply make the people who initiate them look like fools.
