I was watching a wsop Circuit event today, what is a circuit event? whats the difference between it and a normal WSOP? They award a ring and not a braclet.

2005 was the debut of the World Series of Poker Circuit tournaments. Much like the original WSOP, each stop on the Circuit offers tournaments in at various buy-in levels in mostly No-Limit events. Qualifying players became eligible for the Tournament of Champions. Winners receive gold WSOP Circuit championship rings.

This is from an article about last years circuit: "the top 20 points earners from each Circuit event will qualify for the WSOP Circuit Tournament of Champions in late June 2006". The circuit events also increases the number of World Series episodes, making money for ESPN and others alike

Yep, they just did it to compete with the WPT. So they made it like a WSOP tour.

The circuit events are cool because when they come to town there is almost like a mini WSOP. This year in Tunica there was so much more action than usual when the event came to town.
