Life has its phases. We never know for sure when one starts or when one ends... There's no way to know for sure. Sometimes they start (and/or end) like this: "Today I am not playing poker because I need to do this other thing", "I need to visit my parents", or hang out with friends, or take care of my newborn baby, or focus on studying for my job and maybe get a promotion, whatever. Sometimes they end (or start?) like this: "I am too tired", and that's ok. I've started a new phase in the last months after marriage. Suddenly changes in routine, going to a new house (and new neighborhood), having bigger responsibilities, and so on. Suddenly I don't have too much time to play (or study) poker. Suddenly I can't focus for long hours anymore. Suddenly I need to get better at my job, because I really like it and don't want to be a pro poker player. Suddenly I realize that, if I want to keep enjoying poker, I need to do it another way. Maybe playing cash games. Maybe playing home games with friends. Maybe playing Cardschat freerolls here and there. But life is never the same, it changes little by little. We are never the same. When I've read the book The Godfather of Poker, Doyle Brunson's autobiography, this is the one thing I never forget: he describes how his life had its seasons, and in some of them, he barely played poker, like he never was a professional poker player. Today I see Phil Ivey doing the same, off the tables for some years, and now coming back and enjoying poker in his pace. I hope you keep enjoying poker in other ways, Debi! :)
