IMO good starting hands in Hold'em are hands that have a good chance of winning - obviously !

For example pocket AA has a very good chance of winning on its own as one pair. Most of the time you don't need your AA to make trips, a straight or a flush to beat one isolated villain.

Good luck !

Well very basic hands are high pairs, medium pairs, AK, suited face cards, suited connectors,

there's a lot of hand charts regarding hands by position that get into more detail👍

Obviously there are so many factors position, opponents, stack size, etc. My range includes pocket pairs, suited connectors, suited one apart, and any two face cards for the most part.

The best strategy possible is to get the free version of GTOWIZARD and use the charts to create a baseline of actions. The great part is those charts let you look at how other players could respond to your actions. You can actually start to use exploit theory by using the btn's gto range for all your V if they play loose- Or using EP ranges for players if they play tight regardless of what seat they are in in your real games. The charts are interactive you can open in EP and have some players call and the btn raise and you can see what part of your Ep range wants to fold in that scenario. There are soo many ways to study poker using the free GTOWIZARD interactive charts.

My starting hand requirements used to be “I only play this range only” to: what is my position, how many Big Blinds do I have, how many does my opponents have, what player types am I playing against, if it’s a tournament is ICM a factor, I’m sure I’m missing some but that’s what I think of before I even get the cards. You will see in some spots cards just become plan B. Good luck!
