A preflop push is impotent when you have some good cards in your hand that you don't want to be beaten by some catastrophic cards, like 82, 72, 94, etc.

Raising is super important pre flop. It gives us the betting initiative post flop, it weeds out limpers, it isolates weak players, it can give us position, it builds a pot when we have a better hand.
What’s not to like about raising?

A pre-flop raise is extremely important in poker, especially in no-limit Texas Hold'em. It serves several key purposes: it helps to build the pot when holding a strong hand, it can force opponents with weaker hands to fold, and it helps establish control of the table by showing aggression. Raising pre-flop also allows you to define the range of hands your opponents are likely holding, and it can help you isolate specific players to play heads-up. Moreover, it sets the tone for the rest of the hand, putting pressure on your opponents. However, raising too often or with weak hands can lead to overcommitment and vulnerability. The key is to raise with a strategic range based on your position, table dynamics, and hand strength.

I'm happy if other players don't do it.

I almost never open-limp but can over-limp with some speculative hands like AXs.

Well said, nailed it. Ones you see the power of raising Pre flop, weak newbies will hate playing against you. That's the aim, to make your opponents as uncomfortable as you can

If I'm at average, or higher on leaderboard, I'll usually ignore the shove unless I have a pair or connectors, or I'm suited. But if I've had a long run of limping along and I have possibilities, sometimes I'll acceot the shove and give it a go.

Very!! Playing limp is deficient, you will only attract more people to play, this reduces your chances of winning the pot, in other words, every time you limp you will be playing against yourself.

How important is a pre-flop raise to you?
Depends first nothing is absolute...2nd its more important to judge the table and see weaknesses of others then to go with any plan imo.....So if you got a couple crazy animals you might be trapping and its smooth calling etc....I am more aggressive on plo omaha cash then I am in poker....is reasons for raises based on my opponents or not raises...no one here talks on position nothing...Strategy is important reading opponents is more important....So NO to all on here pre flop raising is NOT all important.....Unless your trying to steal pots over playing a solid game etc....

If this is a conscious tactical move, it is appropriate...)

How important is a pre-flop raise to you?
Relatively important. It depends on my position, on the format and structure of the tournament. I don't usually play aggressively, but aggressive opponents are the most comfortable opponents for me.

Flop in front of you with a strong hand, I will raise everything so that the bad cards do not play.

The idea behind raising preflop is to reduce the number of players who will follow you to see the flop.Beginners should play all starting hands by raising. You aim to raise when you have a good hand and not let people with weak starting combinations see the flop cheaply or for free. And with each player who enters the pot, the chance of winning even pocket aces decreases dramatically.Beginners mistakenly consider folding as a sign of cowardice or weakness.

a lot depends on the position and the players, and there are quite a few different types of raises, from simply taking the blindie to blowing up the pot

Pre-flop raise is crucial: it builds the pot, applies pressure, strength, and gives you control of the hand. Smart raises force opponents into tough decisions and set you up for post-flop success.
