In my view, a monster hand is any hand of two pair or better. These include two pair, trips, sets and straights and flushes, full houses, four of a kind and straight flushes.

When you turn over your Monster Hand, there is no longer any question of whether you will play your hand or not. Your hand is the best on the table, and you must play it. The important question becomes “On the flop, do I play fast or do I slowplay?

Depends on your opponents, their amount and the board texture. Heads up I'd slowplay against too agressive opponents (slowplaying is generally a bad idea though unless you are playing against a maniac) or check-raise them out of position and bet for value against more passive opponents. Multiway though it is a bit more complex, because with a ton of different hands in the pot you can potentially have someone with nuts better than yours, so I would play cautious and get out of the pot if somebody usually passive starts to get agressive. Also there are some ultra wet board textures where you can make nut hands with 4 community card and these are also problematic even if you have two-pairs, trips or sometimes even straights or flushes.

I play most hands on the flop with a bet of 1 big blind. It doesn't matter if I have a monster hand or a high card “9”. A lot also depends on position. In fact, I generally believe that the best position is 50% of winning the hand. The other 50% is the luck of the opponents.

As others will say it all depends on villain and whether its a cash table or MTT.

One thing I can tell from 20+ years experience and playing decent to very good MTT's players. Above $1.10 micro MTT's....2 pair is pretty much a sucker hand you lose a lot of chips with and bust out with more times then not.

Cash tables now when it comes to some villains I don't need two pair or even a pair to call their all-in and be ahead. Not many of these villains around now days thou but there's still a few. God love them ATM's.

Cheers!!!

I believe that the best strategy in poker is to win the most chips possible in each hand, for this it is necessary to increase the pot... it depends on the cards that are on the Flop... if the reading is that the opponent has some game or that the turn can improve his game... bet and grow the pot.
