When you start playing poker, the first thing you have to do is learn, in various poker forums and pages like cardchat and others you will find a lot of study material, then you have to make a bankroll and you have to play freeroll, then start playing with money real.

Very good advice, but I think it's also important to play poker with skill, especially remembering what other people have in their hands as well as what they play out, and taking the long view, just like in chess, don't you think?

Suited cards aren't that great. A rookie mistake is to overvalue suited hands. Flushes don't hit as often as you think.Often you will find yourself in situations where you have hands that are one card short of completing a flush or straight. The general rule here is that if your opponent is betting big, then it is usually not profitable to try to draw your draw. However, if your opponent is betting small, then it is quite reasonable to call in the hopes of getting there.Without good bankroll management, you will never become a winning player, even if you play perfectly.
