In poker, table position is one of the most important factors in determining your strategy. Being in a “late” position (next to the button) offers a great advantage, as you act after most players and can observe their actions before making a decision.

On the other hand, starting positions require more caution, since you have to act without information about others. Use the position to your advantage, being more aggressive in late positions and more selective in the early ones. This perception can be the difference between winning and losing.

In a normal poker world, what you mentioned makes perfect sense, but in cardschat freerolls, guys don't know what it means to play in position, range and other things, they play and call with any two cards.

Why are you so sure about the other players? For example, I pay attention to my position and act accordingly. Well, maybe I don't pay attention to it if my stack is in the top five in size.

I completely agree with you, the position at the poker table is one of the important points. In general, there are many nuances and subtleties in poker that you need to pay attention to in order to become a good player. Such nuances as: the size of your stack, the size of your opponents' stacks, your position, the position of your opponents, the playing style of your opponents and much more. If you simply pay attention to the position and do not take into account the other subtleties of the game, then the result is unlikely to be good. Understanding the position at the poker table is one of the components of a successful game.

I completely agree with the author of the post, the position in poker is of great importance, and the game from different positions is taught in the first lessons at poker school.

Gritz is right in the statement that there are many players at CC who appear to not have an understanding of Position, ranges etc but there are also many players who do, from what i have seen since i first joined CC in 2018, the standard of player today is better, you will always get your joker element and wild player(s) but those who know - know.

New and older players can still refresh their knowledge on CC training found here - https://www.cardschat.com/forum/lea...sition-day-1-course-discussion-455448/page-14

https://www.cardschat.com/poker/strategy/become-a-winning-poker-player/day-1/

Pre flop calling ranges - again as previously discussed at CC can be found here - https://www.cardschat.com/poker/strategy/preflop-calling-hand-ranges/

CC article on Poker starting hands guide - https://www.cardschat.com/poker/strategy/poker-starting-hands/

Just some useful information for us all, its never too late to refresh and learn!

Position in poker refers to where you sit at the table and when you have to act during a hand. It’s important because it affects how much information you have before making a decision.

Late Position (Button, Cutoff): You act last, so you can see what others do first. This gives you an advantage because you can make better decisions based on their actions. You can play more hands and bluff more often.

Early Position (Under the Gun, Early seats): You act first, so you don’t know what others will do. This puts you at a disadvantage, so you need to play fewer hands and be more careful.

In short, being in late position gives you more control and opportunities to win, while being in early position requires you to play stronger hands and be more cautious.

position is very important, but imagine that I also know you're sitting on a button and you don't have anything

I think most of the people would say if you has to choose a strong hand or a good position they would pick the strong hand, but i think position is a more important part of a pokerhand, to have a position. If you could act you have more value and opportunities to play the hand and the other player. Especially the cut off is a great position to steal blinds or have position to accumulate chips.

I've heard this for decades but I remain unconvinced. If there is a raise in front of you and you can with pocket tens, an ace flops and the raiser continues, what do you do? If you chase him, he has AK; if you don't, he takes down the pot with a pair of eights. At Omaha, things are even worse. No, position isn't the most important thing. Aggression and stupidity combined are more important.

This is actually true, position at the poker table is very important

Position is even more important in Omaha since equities run closer AND dynamics change more on each street.

It's still better to be in position than OOP.

I think you'll be in the minority here @thedarkman. But I lean more towards your way of thinking specially the lower one plays in stakes. While position is important it certainly isn't everything and one can certainly adjust his play, range and how he goes about playing certain hands OOP. And can still make money when he plays OOP properly.

Cheers!!!

Position is important, but you need to take many other factors into consideration.
Well, I suppose there are limits.

Position is very important indeed . Some hands , even very good ones are very hard to play oop and with many callers . Being in position you have more control of the action
