How Many Hands to Analyze Win Rate?

After being a long-time, consistently winning, small stakes live poker player, I gave online a go. At first, i played .01/.02 cash games with $2 that I won in a tourney. I lost it after a few days. I think it might be variance plus playing scared with a small bankroll.

I deposited $20 and have doubled it after about 1,000 hands. I fear this may be variance as well (although I have made some significant improvements to my game).

In summary, how many hands before ai can get a reliable idea of win rate?
