I was wondering if you think you can learn from a free roll? Do they help you improve your gam? Or do you think there value is just fun play because of all the donks that call with anythig and raise your aces with jack 9 and hit the flop...

Freerolls are a great place to start. No risk, and you can get comfortable with the game.

I only use freerolls to try and build the bankroll. Not much you can learn other than good play is always trumped by luck in freerolls, and how to recover from the bingo player who 4 flushes your flopped set. It can teach you to roll with huge variance, and to stay away from tilt.

I love freerolls, and I love cardchat freerolls best because if you win or do well they pay a good amount. I think wining around $25 with no investment is pretty cool. You can get a bankroll going and start playing the other tourneys.

Freeroll is great for 2 reasons imo : 1. free money with no risk 2. Learn to play (explore) against fish players

Try to survive the first few rounds and wait until these gamblers are out. This is my strategy on freerolls during the first few rounds. Play only with extra strong hands during the mentioned rounds. After these players are out the tournament could became to an enjoyable game where you can learn a lot.

To me, its how you handle it. If you just jump in the all in pre-flop crowd and dont take it serious, I doubt you will gain much but entertainment. If you play very smart/patient poker, it can be the best training field there is. Anytime people have nothing invested, its going to be tuff, but thats why the idea of this site/community with private freerolls is a pretty neat idea. :)

Freeroll are a good thing but...Most of the players play crazy,a lot of fish playing bad cards and get lucky on the flop, etc. For example i had and AA i go all-in and i lose vs 6-2 or something like that,so off course you get pissed off.Another bad thing for me is that because freerolls dosen't have a buy-in most off the people play very aggresive because they dont have something to lose, and so the playing is pretty diferent from a regulr tournament. The bright side is that u still can lear a lot from this kind of tournaments and you can win some money,of course small unimportant amounts but it is something.I ussualy play freerols when i dont money and i dont want to play chips.

Surely you greatly improves your game playing freerolls. Many players are maniacs, it is true. But it has many players who plays well.

And even against bad players you always learn something. It's like in Counter Strike, even facing the bots (who don't think and do random movements), you improves your game. :D :D :D

Hilarious! That same exact situation happened last night. dude caught runner-runner all in with pair over pair.
Theres always something to learn when playing. I've just started realizing that if you try to keep the pot small, people are gonna shove and overbet at least once in the first hour guaranteed. And most of the time you've got em stomped with trips or a str8 or flush. freerolls are free. so if you lose, dont worry about it.

No freerolls do not help in the game, but only spoil it, because a lot of recreational players who do freezing solutions and seeing them play you yourself start to play worse, do minus callm better play micro sng tournamets or same league :)

Freerolls can help you get your bankroll started, but you'll need some luck. I think only once you get ITM, the real game starts, and even then you can get some maniacs there. But at the early stages it is crazy, so many people playing any 2 cards. It can be really frustrating, but yes it helps you to learn how to deal with tilt. :)

Early freeroll play wont help much as everyone pretty much takes it as a joke, however when you make a super deep run, and get down to fewer players the game is taken more seriously and I believe you can improve aspects of your game at this point start recognizing player trends, and taking notes, you may face these players again it WILL HELP!

FREEROLLS are fun. Some people play a great game.Of course yeah there's many that don't play position or respect bets that put you on a good hand ect.I found this in alot in freerolls and cash gaming. Its just oh whatever- I'll call half my stack to prove I can win with something bizarre.Taking the bad with the good is all in the love of playing and winning the game.I use to play in the cardschat league and cant wait for another opportunity to do so again.Taking poker seriously no matter what kind it is freerolls, play chips, cash games that will take you to the top.

Freerolls are a great way to build your bankroll if you can find the right freerolls to play. Not all freerolls are free, so you have to pick and choose carefully noting the starting stack with the registration period. There are a few freerolls that I truly enjoy and have done well in and then there are a few freerolls I will not touch.

FREEROLLS are fun and helpful for beginner.
If u are serious, buy-in tournaments are more helpful.

You can learn a lot from freerolls because they definitely make you play from your position because everyone at your table could be a wild card, shove a2c kind of guy.. There's no room for speculation there and it's a place for really bare bones ABC poker. If you suffer from fancy play syndrome, playing a freeroll or 2 should knock that out of you right quick
