Bluffing has always seemed like one of the angriest parts of poker to me.. That idea of winning a hand without having to have the best card seemed like something from a movie to me. But then came the reality: I tried some epic bluffs and I felt bad.
The real thing is that you can't always force a story. There were times when I tried to push the guy out of my hand, but he wouldn't even blink and pay easily. Then I realized that my bluff didn't make any sense. The secret - which I'm still learning - is to choose the moments well. If the guy is showing a lot of interest in the hand, it might be better not to invent fashion. Now, if he's a little hesitant, then it might be worth the risk. But what I learned the most was that bluffing only works if it makes sense within the game. If my bet doesn't match the story I'm going to tell, the guys notice. And when they realized it... my friend, that's it.
