Recreational players can be unpredictable. Do you prefer an aggressive approach against them, or do you play passively and let them make mistakes?

In tournament when i play with recreational players, i try not to get in big pots early in tournament, if i get the nuts well depending if i think the player will pay me off, then i try to bet big. when i get latter in tourny when blinds get bigger, then i play agressive and my normal TAG game. They don t have experience and it is time to exploit them. When i first started playing live close to me, I just couldn t do anything because i was TAG from the start of the game but they just keep calling, just can t get them to fold. They all limp in but if you raise they mostly all call, so it is very difficult to play against them, just play there game at first but when the blinds get up, just exploit them by raising and reraising them when you have good starting hands.

Just exploit whatever is exploitable. If they fold to too many raises -raise them, if they fold to too many cbets -cbet them, if they raise too often - 3bet them, lather, rinse, repeat.

This is the simple but correct answer. At least a part of it.

Just because they are recreational players, you can't put them in a category before you know how unbalanced they are and which way.

If I have to guess without playing a hand, I think most players who play for fun want to see as many cards as possible, so they are often loose, passive, and bluff too little. The other end of the spectrum is either a tight nit or a maniac.

But you don't know until you have played with them enough time - and they can of course sometimes adapt and change also.

Hi :)
Basically, I play quite tightly and am usually set up to wait patiently for my opponents to make mistakes. But when I see that there is a need, I can play aggressively.
