Recreational players can be unpredictable. Do you prefer an aggressive approach against them, or do you play passively and let them make mistakes?

I think with recreational players, it's quite important to observe them and try to exploit their mistakes.

As an example:
When I see someone is calling (too much) with weak holdings, I reduce my bluffs and increase my value bets. 🤓

As Andyreas said, exploit their mistakes, so this can require more aggression or passivity depending on the type of mistakes they are making, there is no one size fits all.
One tip is to not overly adjust, this counters the unpredictability element from the recreationals and stops stronger players from exploiting you if start going to extremes trying to exploit the recs.

I am definitely adjusting my play vs unseasoned players. I’m not thinking I have to play a certain way against anyone. What I am thinking is how can I get this person alone in a pot to take advantage.
Now whatever they are doing wrong I try to exploit. Do they never fold? Ok then I’m going big for max value. Do they fold on a certain street too much? If not I can bluff and put the pressure on.
Find the mistakes they are making and go after it. Everyone makes mistakes even really good players, so just pay attention and then attack.
