I, like many, began to see it on ESPN broadcasts of the world series of poker. I always liked roasting games and although I knew Poker, but in the normal mode of 5 cards and with change the ones you wanted. Later, due to the advertising of pokerstars, I made an account without having much knowledge of it. Then I checked in some schools and little by little I have learned one thing or another, staying mostly with the Omaha hi / lo.

First time I heard about texas hold'em was actually online. I was bored and searching the internet for a way to win money online. I found party poker and started playing. I had no idea what the rules were, I actually had no knowledge of it what so ever. From there I actually started watching the wsop on ESPN so I could learn how to play. From there I've never really stopped playing, except when the U.S. government took all our poker sites away from us.

Since I was very young used to play some deck cards games such as 'Sueca', 'Buraco' (similar as Gin Rummy), Dices and roulette (toy). Not for money, but for tons of fun. There was a period which I was also "addicted" in Chess; I'm so glad for all these games I've learned.

I don't recall exactly when was the first time heard about poker game, but pretty sure heard and saw it by watching westerns and 007 movies on tv, when I was little boy.

A long ago, when started studying about stock markets and read some successful stock market speculators (Ex: Jesse Livermore), noticed those men had a thing in common: Poker as their favorite game.

So soon I sought poker books, and soon found out, already in the first pages, the Texas Hold'em variation. It was around 2005/2006.
Today I'm learning the other poker variations.

A long time ago, poker tournaments were shown on Russian television. I looked as if mesmerized) I didn't have a computer then. And now - there is a computer, poker is officially banned in Russia, but bookmaking is flourishing, and the pokerstars tournament in Sochi is being advertised) Such things.

My dad taught me the hold'em rules on christmas holidays when I was like 10 years old. Ever since we have played hold'em on holidays and few months back I decided to try my luck in online poker.

I first got acquainted with the game thanks to my friends. They often told fascinating stories about the game and their victories. And although, I started playing back in 2017, I still consider myself a beginner.

My buddy had just returned from a 2 year deployment in Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom and introduced our friend group to the game. This was around the time Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP and the game became very ubiquitous so we were playing all the time. Home games, online, and casinos.

My son liked watching it on TV. We played at the kitchen table. I got hooked and it has been long ride from there.

I "learned" how to play poker with some friends in elementary school (5th grade to be exact) despite the fact that gambling was not allowed. Surprisingly, we were able to play if we didn't play for money. I say "learned" in quotation marks because looking back years later, I realized that what we played could hardly be called poker (probably the teachers recognized this and that is why they allowed it; it kept us quiet lol).

For example, we knew which hands beat what (well... most of us knew) but none of us knew about kickers or side pots. The game was us bluffing and splashing chips left and right like we saw in the movies - but with no real strategy or understanding of the game or math :D

I didn't begin poker until just a few months ago (I'm in University now). Not because gambling interests me (as a personality, it never interested me), but because I have always loved psychology and reading body language - poker just seemed like a good way to test my abilities.

I've learned a lot over the last few months, but apparently my abilities have been serving me well so far - although granted: only played small homegames and online freerolls through cardschat.

When the pandemic is over, I plan to visit a casino for my first time :)

WSOP on ESPN. It was then on almost every poker show on TV. When I was young, everyone played 5 card stud or draw. The idea of no limit with the combination of stud (2 hole cards) and draw (5 community cards) was the best of all worlds.

Yes, when you bet with a small stack and on the flop, for example, you have two pair and the chip leader's straight is waiting. and on the river you know his straight will come

I was at a Las Vegas night once back in the 1980s and playing poker at a table where it was dealer's choice. One of the other players wanted to play hold 'em for his deal and that was the first time that I ever heard of it. Stud was the game then, and the one I played until about six or seven years ago. If I was still playing cash games I would probably still be playing it, but Hold 'em is the tournament game so I've learned it...and I love it. :)

TV then Friends

I saw it on TV. Then we started playing at fishing camp with the buddies. Now it’s an integral part of our annual fishing trip.
